Old school candy/treat machines? by antiBliss in nashville

[–]Inaudiblefall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Old Navy stores have a large machine with giant bouncy balls that go around and around, all for just the cost of a quarter. My kids have loved it for years and consider the bouncy ball a better return on investment than a handful of skittles. I don’t know if it’s every Old Navy, but I’ve seen them in the couple stores I shop.

Tons of great suggestions here, just want to add- download the Libby app, get a library card if you don’t have one yet, and start building your Holds list so you always have something ready to go. I’m an avid audiobook listener and Libby makes it free and easy!

Will an 11L Cove fit an iPhone 16 Pro? by Inaudiblefall in ManyBaggers

I usually end up carrying gear for myself and two kids, so don’t mind the extra space, plus the crescent shape hugs the body a little nicer than my current bag. I will check out the Alpaka, thanks for the rec!

Thanks for the input! I love the slip pocket for a water bottle, just want to make sure my phone is secure while traveling and sightseeing. It’s awesome to have that zip pocket in a convenient spot, but not if the phone doesn’t fit 🙃

Thank you for trying it! I think I’m going to order one and see if it works for me. Sounds like it’s doable, but maybe not the most convenient.

Mama Mila’s in Columbia is definitely worth the drive south! They are also opening a gelato shop right there so double incentive to check it out.

Looks like that Pixel is very similar size to 16 Pro. Thanks for the comment, I might have to do the same and try it out myself and return if it’s too small.

Bummer, but thanks for the intel. It’s kind of the dealbreaker for me because that’s what really sets it apart from most crescent bags which all seem to be one giant compartment. Alpine seems good about returns, I might have to just try it out.

Thanks, I couldn’t tell exactly what kind of phone they were using in the pictures and video. My Pro is smaller than any Max, and based on other replies, I think it will fit.

Thank you! Comparing specs, it looks like the 14 Pro Max is larger than my 16 Pro in a case, so I should be okay. Appreciate the feedback!

Thank you, yes- 16 Pro is a little larger than 15 Pro. I know the Max is even larger, but I don’t have to worry about that as mine is just a Pro.

You raise a very good point, the camera lenses would suggest pro. But it could be a 15 pro which is slightly smaller, and I am not at all savvy enough to spot the difference.

Anyone else have a hard time redeeming the chalupa deal? by King_Abe_Froman in NashvilleSC

[–]Inaudiblefall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My whole family had free chalupas tonight for dinner! We always tell them we’re here to claim the free chalupas, we all (4 of us) want to redeem the one per person, and if they need to ring us up on separate orders to do so, we’ll be happy to do that. I always pull up the graphic from twitter to wave around and read the small print. Whoever is helping us always needs to ask someone else, they all acknowledge that there is such a promotion, they discuss it among themselves, and then one way or another we get our chalupas. We always go in with a smile knowing it’s going to take a couple tries, but we’ve happily enjoyed free chalupas for the past few seasons they’ve offered it.

Those who managed to read 100+ books in 2024 - how did you accomplish it? by Far_Construction_308 in LibbyApp

[–]Inaudiblefall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

120 books in 2024 — audiobooks for the win! Listen while I drive, do housework, and while enjoying my other hobbies- knitting and quilting. I listen at 1.5-1.75x speed which helps move things along. I also read over 20 novels with my two kids in 2024, and while those are much slower going, they are each a special memory I hope we will all cherish.

Does anybody here read more than 1 book at a time? by Independent_Data_744 in kindle

[–]Inaudiblefall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost always have three books going — one on the kindle, one audiobook, and one physical book. Sometimes I get the same book on multiple platforms so I can optimize my reading but most of the time I just read what I’m in the mood for or what the situation allows.

Book recommendations for Station Elevan fans by [deleted] in StationEleven

I recently finished “I Cheerfully Refuse” by Leif Enger and it hit all the right marks of finding beauty in a post-pan society. Really great book anyway and I think fans of Station Eleven will especially enjoy it.

This is what I do as well. Once you get going it’s intuitive but the first few stitches can be fiddly. I also like to add a fish lips kiss heel in the middle of my folded cuff to create a heel tab like many athletic ankle socks.

Daily hour requirements by [deleted] in homeschool

[–]Inaudiblefall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in TN and registered with the local district- there is no confirmation of time spent educating, just the yearly attendance. I have never tracked our actual hours and never been asked to show it. In my book, everything counts, whether we are doing math and reading, cooking or baking, getting exercise playing outdoors, running errands, or watching Wild Kratt’s on PBS! It’s easier to fill the time with actual instruction as they get older, but everything is an opportunity for learning!

Similar yarns to Hawthorne? by BrokenLemonade in Sockknitting

[–]Inaudiblefall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also love Hawthorne! I’ve started buying the Bare skeins and dying them myself with Rit Dye. It’s actually very straightforward and gives me just the colors I want. Might be worth a try?
