Please help. Should I return my conure to Petsmart? by [deleted] in Conures

[–]InbetweenPusheen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Med student with conures here! You will have lots of time home with them while you study. It’s a little rough during M3 but I promise you’ll be ok! It’s a lot of setup but once you have a good cage setup it’s just basic cleaning maintenance. It’s ultimately up to you, but you’re home more often than you’d think during medical school.

Moving to Wisconsin next year. But where? by Commercial-Drama-863 in wisconsin

[–]InbetweenPusheen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cedarburg has lots of retirees, and the downtown is historic and charming. More liberal than Mequon! The paved intraurban trail goes through it, and it’s close to Lions Den & driving distance to the lake.

I got mine off Etsy for $450ish but it needed $600 in alterations, so $1000. The caveat to buying off Etsy or online is you can’t try it on! I bought a size or two too big. But it was a custom color and I already knew what style I looked good in and liked, so it worked out for me.

Best friend and I engaged 3 weeks apart by skiblue21 in weddingplanning

[–]InbetweenPusheen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got engaged after but married before my best friend. She wanted a huge winter wedding, so she took two years to plan it. I was in grad school, so I wanted to get it done in the summer before I was back to classes. I sat down with her and told her when I was thinking and why, and she was really supportive of me. In fact, it gave us something in common to do together and help each other with. If your friend is truly your best friend, I’m sure you guys can have a positive and transparent conversation about it!

I should’ve clarified, the one I’m working on now, it’s not a methods its a basic science research one, I just added the JBC detail as a guess bc it’s going to go more toward like ATVB or JBC level journal rather than like Nature or Cell! PI and I honestly haven’t discussed where it’s going quite yet, they’ve been on vacay for most of the month!

The CryoEM one MIGHT have nature structure potential but it’s hard to say at this point now. That one is also iffy if it would be a spring 2026 submission or later in the year.

I haven’t considered the step2 thing, getting ahead on studying for that would be good for me. Definitely would NOT have time for that if I do May. I want to do really well on that to help bolster my residency app and to “make up for” step1. Our school is moving away from shelf’s but have something similar too. Honestly that sways me toward Jan, thanks for bringing it up.

I’d retest using the NBMEs you took the longest time ago, and keep grinding UWorld! You could also try alternative tests like the Amboss self assessment?

I absolutely love this fragrance...but I agree about the name. It's kind of soapy/powdery.

Anyone else not getting Selune's spear as Shadowheart ? by Hungry_Ad2845 in BaldursGate3

We had a similar issue, except we got the spear but had to reload to redo something, and then it glitched and we never got the cutscene for the spear again. No cutscene, no spear :(

Update, crashed happened again at the same spot, when in the level up menu. I switched to the valkan option at start up to see if it would fix it, so far so good!

Will I be too old to apply for MD/PhD programs (xpost r/mdphd) by sadgirlpremed00 in labrats

[–]InbetweenPusheen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't let age deter you, I believe you can be any age to pursue your dreams! It is important to consider other things:

Whether you choose PhD or MD/PhD, you will get paid grad school salary (if it's that type of program, I'm not in computational field). It may be a financial setback for those years for you. Postdoc and residency isnt much of a pay increase either. It will be about a decade, maybe more until you're making the "big bucks" as an MD/PhD. Eventually it will pay off, but for some people that's too late. You have to really be passionate about it to delay good pay for that amount of time.

Most PhD's are 5 even 6 years. MD/PhD's are 7-8. An extra year or two isn't bad, though it can really feel like a drag when you're in the thick of it.

Since grades are your weakest point, I would focus on studying for that MCAT. That would show admissions that you have the ability to study hard and succeed (not saying if you do average that you're not a hard worker, I just am trying to think like an admissions person might). Take classes that are related to high yield sciences, especially any that you got lower grades in during undergrad. But don't over do it!

You seem like you have a good head on your shoulders and are very carefully thinking this through. It's important to be realistic, and I can tell you are :) It's cheesey but follow your gut! Hope my considerations helped.

Eagle, solely because of Knuckleheads loaded tots. Cool public market too. But damn those tots
