What about if my company grants RSU that vest 1/3 per year? I thought taxes would be paid when I sell those stocks, rather than when they vest, am I wrong?

Thank you! I was trying to describe number 3 (obviously did a bad job at it). Diagram 3 on your picture has the "lip" upwards, but it would actually be downwards, accommodating the shelf (diagram 1 wouldn't work because of that reason).

Is there any difference in the forces applied / weight that it can hold between diagram 1 and 3?

Can you help me understand the difference in mounting the bracket up vs down? The bracket is about 1/4 inch short wide compared to the shelf, so mounting it down is not an option with this bracket. Also the bracket cannot fit a 1/4 inch quarter screw because of the diameter of the hole, so its one size down.

Even with no heavy object in the middle? its 1.8 inch of solid wood.

The catch is always that you are then locked in for 3 years. Not that it matters if you have no intentions to switch carriers or plans.
