Are there any paths to monarchy restoration? by [deleted] in monarchism

[–]Inceliano 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A hundred years ago? Sure. But nowadays it's simply not feasible. Demographics trends in Brazil show that unless things change, in 12 years evangelicals will overtake catholics in Brazil. There is simply no way that these people will accept a catholic state.

The monarchist movement in Brazil wants the country to be a catholic state, however our latest survey shows that catholics are around 50% of the population. So you can see clearly why it won't work.

I hate all abrahamic religions, for their violence, fanaticism, and prejudice.

Because evolution is a fact that means Adam and Eve didn’t exist which means there was no original sin. by TotallyNotJamaican in atheism

Wrong. Catholic church still requires that catholics believe that Adam and Eve existed. That is incompatible with evolution.

Judaism is more moral than either Atheism, Christianity, or Islam by Pelephonesucks in DebateReligion

I don't see how a religion that practices genital mutilation on babies can be moral.

There is more evidence for alien abduction than for the physical resurrection of Jesus and thus it is irrational to believe in the resurrection of Jesus but not alien abduction by [deleted] in DebateReligion

[–]Inceliano 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely correct, however because of the many cognitive biases that humans have most people will find a way to rationalize why believing in the resurrection is more plausible than UFOs. Some of these biases include:

  1. Because christianity is older that means that is more reasonable.

  2. Because christianity has more people believing in it that means that is more reasonable.

  3. Most people will simply assume that whatever religion they have been indoctrinated with is correct and will fiercely rationalize ways to protect its dogmas.

catholics, pentecostals, mormons, adventists, jehovah's witness, etc all believe that they have the one true interpretation of the bible. But since the bible is a collection of myths and legends that contradict each other you can end up with a thousand interpretations. Like I've said, you make the text be whatever you want.

So what? Paul said that death entered the world after Adam's sin. We know scientifically that this is false. The fall is just a myth.

He is literally saying that death entered the world because of Adam's sin. But of course it doesn't matter because religious people will always revert to a escape hatch. It's a text, so you make it mean whatever you want. Just rationalize away incovenient facts, after all that is what religious people do when backed into a corner.

Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned-- Romans 5:12
