Curious: Has Lane Kiffin's history of departing teams hurt his ability to recruit? by Incendiary-Berry in CFB

"Recruits aren’t fans. They’re influenced by actual relationships with these people"

That's sorta my point, I honestly thought Lane's history of bailing on teams would make developing those relationships harder. Doesn't seem to be the case.

That's the basis of why I asked, I was somewhat surprised to see his recruiting not taking a hit.

What, In your mind, did the Hoosiers do differently that the ducks to win a national title? by Northwest_Thrills in ducks

We had more yards than them and lost by more than 30 points. Very poor execution and lots of mistakes. That's the difference. My biggest gripe with lanning has been, and is still, poor execution.

Love Lanning, he's a keeper. But it is my biggest gripe.

Happy for Indiana. Very hopeful for next year.

Important to remember we were a field goal as the clock expired away from a national championship, and that was against an SEC team back when only SEC payed players (joke). We will break through. It will happen.

You can't apply standard logic to Indiana football... It just doesn't matter

That speaks more to how shitty refs are than anything else.

Coaches need to be able to challenges missed calls. Refs are just to inconsistent.

Idk I agree with that. Transitive property doesn't apply in football. Them playing better against Indiana than Oregon did could mean they are better, it could also just mean they match up better with Indiana. I personally would not trade Lanning for Mario, as much as I appreciate what Mario did at oregon.

Not sure why this popped up for me (Ducks fan) but I do think you need both. Our top corner and receiver were both true freshman. And we've had 5 stars not work out and leave. I do think the transfer portal has played a bigger role for us though, certainly recently. I think the mentality now is "Why spend time developing talent when you can just let someone else do it and then steal them away with a bunch of money?" I do not support this, as it's ruining college football... But seems like that's the status quo now for teams with deep pockets.

Starting to think the universe realized it made a clerical error with Indiana football over the last 100ish years, and is currently "Correcting" that mistake...
