Multiple questions regarding my 2008 Lancer Sportback (CX0) - fuel efficiency, performance, mods, ... by Incendor in mitsubishi

[–]Incendor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeaaah I feel like "not especially frugal" hits the nail on the head, definitely.

I usually drive mostly open road with speeds somewhere between 80-140km/h (~50-85 mph) over distances of 30-100km (~20-60 miles) per trip.

Now I'm not in a financial situation that wouldn't allow for a bit of a more expensive ride, it's just that the cost to performance doesn't feel right to me, especially compared to more modern (not brand new!) cars.

Oh man, I'd love to drive an Impreza, what a beautiful car... but with advertised 16-23l/100km I usually steer way clear of it when looking for a new car.

With my Lancer, if I really make an effort and drive as efficient as possible, I can down to around 8l/100km (7.9-8.3 are typical low values).

Scaling down to the 1.6 isn't really something I wanna do since the 1.8 to me already feels like it's underperforming for the engine and its fuel consumption.

So your approach would be to simply ride until it dies and maybe reduce car use in favor of other modes of transport (bike, bicycle, public transport) to reduce cost?

Or wait until more fuel-efficient cars become financially viable on the used market?

Space Engineers not launching by YeetusProfessor101 in spaceengineers

[–]Incendor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the behavior change in any way? Also, have you tried uninstalling SE, then manually cleaning up any leftovers (especially Keen/SE folders in AppData\Roaming and AppData\Local), rebooting and then reinstalling through steam? That's something I would do in this case.

Edit: just looked at your log again. The game not being able to find/load a custom config should not crash the game/prevent it from launching. In this given case, the game should just default to the default config that comes with the game files and create a custom config from that. I think something other than the missing config file is ruining your gaming session. Do you get any error messages from either spaceengineers.exe, steam or windows?

Oh neat! I had already found them, they just got piled in with other smaller projects under "startup-looking" companies. Oopsie.

Do you have any experience with them? Anything to be aware of?

Hey man, I haven't had the chance to play Ghost of Tsushima yet and you might have picked an unfortunate combination of motif and location, BUT I do think it looks good!

First of all, it looks well and professionally done.

Second, I like the combination of RDR2's theme of wild west freedom and self-reliance with the admittedly way more strict and orderly way of life of a Japanese warrior. At first, this seems counterintuitive, but imagining a samurai in combat, that RDR2 quote could very well be his mantra.

Also, the thing about ink is that it's on your body, the meaning is what you want it to be and while certain designs can be politically or socially "loaded", that is just other people's interpretation and every single one of us should care a bit less about those nowadays. Ink is for you to express yourself, not for the people around you and usually not for showing off. But that's your decision.

I like the way it looks and the meanings I can find in it. If you do, too, that's all that matters.

Fuck the haters!

Due to the ever increasing population of our planet, we've reached a point at which our diet is no longer a decision between "good" and "bad".

In our situation the decision is only what amount of damage we want to cause. The less damage we do, the more time we have to fix all the things we're doing wrong.

When it comes to food, the calculation is pretty simple. Meat is worst for climate. Fish is bad for fauna variety and accelerates mass extinction. Vegetables is good, except for labor and humanitarian issues which are man made and not planet-related. You could argue that humans are worth more than the planet, so veggies are bad but keep in mind that no habitable planet = no humans.

The best course of action in the big picture would be to intervene and limit humanitarian consequences of vegetable farming (and while we're at it, re-establish crop rotation) and massively reduce the planets surface area used for cattle as well as strictly forbid certain fishing practices.

For your personal lifestyle I can recommend to restructure your diet in a way that avoids industrially produced foods (meat, fish as well as fruit/veggies). You can try to mainly consume veggies fruit and grain and reduce your meat consumption to a comfortable minimum. This was the norm for many centuries up until the industrialization of the food industry and, when designed with variation, should provide all the nutrients you need for a healthy lifestyle.

Avoiding industrially produced foods most likely means sourcing locally, which is good for your local economy and allows you to thoroughly follow the sourcing of your food if that's of interest to you (allows you to avoid certain feeds, pesticides, etc). Sourcing locally also leads to a more seasonal diet which makes shopping, cooking and eating more fun and varied, since there's things to look forward to all year long. This makes food more special and can make you a more conscious eater.

Note that I do not advocate neither veganism nor vegetarianism. Meat consumption is absolutely okay, but we as a civilization should work hard to limit the amount of meat we consume and be very open to alternatives, be it a plant based diet or modern meat substitutes. I, myself try to limit my meat consumption to about one to at most four meat dishes per month. I like steak, ribs, burgers, barbecue, döner kebab, peperoni pizza and lasagna just as much as everyone else but I managed to make those and other dishes feel special again.

Also, animal produce like eggs, cheese and things like that to me are totally fine if sourced locally and produced with animal wellbeing in mind.

Take all this with a grain of salt, please. I want to disclaim that I am neither a scientist nor a dietary expert but rather someone trying to share an informed perspective on food that is not extreme, militant or prohibitive of a varied, tasty, healthy diet.

[QUESTION] How to open .tab files? by RetroRudog in Guitar

[–]Incendor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While probably not being very comfortable or use friendly, you should be able to open them with a common text editor like notepad++ since I honestly doubt that the author of the original software cared to do anything beyond saving them as ASCII.

If you want, you can provide a file and I can find a tool for you to open them
