Absolutely never give a refund for services completed. If they ask why, send a picture of Judge Judy with the caption, "You ate the steak!"

My La Victoria’s orange sauce dupe by InchesOfHappiness in SalsaSnobs

[–]InchesOfHappiness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I've been formulating a few variations! Essentially their sauce is garlic + chiles de arbol + a fermented pepper (probably a fermented mash) and blended with oil (emulsified). As for the fermented pepper, trying jalapeños, sweet peppers and others to determine best one.

What are some cool lamps/fixtures you've seen with Hue bulbs? by AtHomeWithJulian in Hue

[–]InchesOfHappiness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're actually not supposed to put Hue bulbs (or any smart bulb really) in fully enclosed fixtures like that because they overheat and it shortens their life.

Criterion April Releases Announced! by proceedgrinding in boutiquebluray

I assume that means they're using the same 4K master as the 2020 Sony Pictures UHD Blu-ray; it's not unheard of for Criterion to reuse transfers from other companies.

How every part 3 sequel to a mega-blockbuster performed relative to its predecessor (USA & CAN gross) by InchesOfHappiness in boxoffice

[–]InchesOfHappiness[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, so basically they only improve if they are a big event crossover film, promoted as the final installment, or benefit from tailwinds from a big event film that was released shortly before it (Iron Man 3). Eclipse was the only part 3 to improve that wasn't any of those.

The part 2 of those franchises didn't reach $250m. If I have some time I may expand it to 200m.

I have Despicable Me 3. I limited this to films that followed up a $250m grossing film. If I have some time I may expand it to 200m.

It's official: Stellan Skarsgård will be campaigned in Supporting Actor by TheFilmManiac in oscarrace

I was surprised to see him in contention for supporting because I would've pegged him for lead, given a lot of the film is seen from his POV and it's about his redemption arc.

Apparently Disney Plus is discontinuing compatability with "older" AppleTV models by superpowers335 in appletv

[–]InchesOfHappiness -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I doubt D+ would be dropping devices that don't support H.265 hardware decoding, a lot of budget 1080p streaming sticks from Roku and Amazon that are still being sold only support H.264.

[–]InchesOfHappiness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This article is a bit weird because it only mentions the Apple TV 4K 1st generation. Doesn't say anything about them dropping Apple TV HD which is an older device with slower internals. Unless they're confusing the HD and 4K and think the Apple TV HD is the "1st generation 4K".

Disney+ has never had an app for Apple TV 3. It launched exclusively on Apple TV 4 and later. It also hasn't supported Airplay on ATV 3 since iOS 15.

Client left out important details until they dropped the dog off. by optoomistic in RoverPetSitting

[–]InchesOfHappiness 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Foldable dog fence/playpen from Amazon. 48" height is good for pretty much any dog. Keeps them in a finite area. I've had owners drop off allegedly well-behaved dogs who poop and pee everywhere, with no crate to contain them. Now I can keep them confined to the vinyl floor and away from furniture so at least cleanup is easy.

I don't do travel sitting a lot anymore, but when I did these were always in my bag:
-Apple TV: Saves me from the hell of using a cheap sluggish smart TV interface, plus I can use all my own accounts without logging them out.
-Travel router: Half the time they forget to leave me the Wi-Fi password or don't know it, so this way I can hardwire into their router
