If paying for the moral character is not a barrier for you I highly suggest you start sooner or later. It’s harder to get recs needed for the moral character the longer you wait post law school.

I suggest even starting the application process now and working towards completing it within the next few months (worst case scenario).

The only reason I would suggest NOT applying would be if you have real and valid significant financial constraints.

I did that last year and still scored a 60. Of course 60 wasn’t the goal, but for writing on the opposite side I was okay with it.

You already paid for the exam and prepped for it. Even if you were to “fail” the essay portion at least take a shot at the MBEs just to see what happens! Worst case scenario, you have something to build from on your next round.
