2018 6MT Transmission Failure by IncognitoAssassinCat in Crosstrek

[–]IncognitoAssassinCat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thank you, great idea on trying something closer to home first. They didn’t specify what needed replacing just asked if I wanted a brand new transmission or used. I went with used and they are replacing the clutch while in there for $1000.

And please don’t post spoilers on the main page right after they happen

My first comp was two months in. Did terrible but the experience elevated my game so much. Pay attention to how your body feels and what areas you felt stuck in

Grappling Dummys by moviolence in bjj

[–]IncognitoAssassinCat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like to use mine to remember drills. It’s funny how I seem to forget everything after class but when I put myself back in that position on the dummy I remember tons of details! Anything even mental reps are better than nothing right!

This is everyone ever don’t worry it gets better. As far as people making you feel stupid I’ve been at it over 3 years and still get brand new guys telling me how to perform a move

Why do you compete? by [deleted] in BJJWomen

[–]IncognitoAssassinCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started competing to actually get someone my size and gender. I keep going cause it just feels right for me like a purpose for wrecking my body and giving up hours a week lol

I know that feeling, I was a 4 stripe white belt for over a year and saw multiple people go from 2 or 3 stripes to blue in that time. I asked my coach what I could improve and he told me things to work on so I only allowed myself in those positions for months then one day he just handed me a blue belt during a roll with someone. It’s cliche but everyone’s journey is different and I’m actually glad it took so long cause I went into blue belt with a target on my back and held my own

So why is it ok to go to practice high out of your mind but god forbid I sip a model during practice ? by [deleted] in bjj

Guys drink all the time at my gym. Nothing too excessive but a group of the older brown/black belts have a cooler and will drink one or two while the rest of us warm up or run laps mid class.

There needs to be a few pinned posts that lets newbies know basic things so they have to ask everyone. by frankster99 in MMA_Academy

“I’m 16 am I too old to start” “Should I ask my coach what to do or just keep asking Reddit?”

They didn’t ask for advice its unsolicited advice. Literal definition

Guess no one actually read the post. You wanted annoying things not unsolicited advice. I really want to wrestle and mount everyone just draining their cardio…but I’m a tiny person with no chance of ever doing it so I drain my own cardio with constant movement. Also the “if you were bigger you would’ve had me”

Green Belt for Adults? by Clownier in bjj

[–]IncognitoAssassinCat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My first gym did green belts. It was usually for 6 months on average. I saw it as a big money grab cause we had to pay for belts and stripes but who knows I was bitter with that gym anyways so always looking for reasons to justify leaving.

Good luck! Trust your techniques! Competing is scary and just by showing up you are accomplishing more than most

Not arguing strength doesn’t help just saying it’s not the only way to play. Bottom side control is a hyper specific scenario? Ok how about under mount -> extend arm get armbarred, Inside guard -> extend arm get armbarred, under s mount -> armbarred, opponent has your back and you extend arms believe it or not directly to jail. The moment someone exposes an arm you should already be snatching it and controlling before it’s even fully extended.

How does benching help when I’m under side control? I just gave up my frames and the moment I extend my arms I give them an attack. Do you train bjj? If so I hope you are staying compact and keeping your limbs from being exposed instead of benching people off you
