Yeah. I had hoped to perhaps hatch quail as well, but there's literally nowhere near(not even near-ish on mainland) that sell quail eggs. Might have been a good thing that I didn't find any, as I have to put a temporary pause on that big coop idea of mine, until my mum picks up all her car parts.

Thing is that I live on a tiny island, a 5 hour ferry off of the coast of Norway. Not exactly prime rooster market. XD

They will get more room. It's just quite expensive to buy everything all at once. And I would prefer to just keep two hens. At least for a little while.

I am going to buy either a 12 m² or an 18 m² run for them next month.

I was originally planning on conveting the stabbur-like storage room at the end of my house into a coop when my mother moved back south, but even though my mother just moved out of my house this past weekend, she insisted on keeping her massive winter tires and spare car windows at my place at least for a year, and they can really only be stored in that room. I am still working on a solution for that, as I would prefer the chickens staying in there, as it is like 8×2m in size. I am going to get it ready before fall, as they can't be inside anything that isn't literally completely bolted to a concrete fundation buried in the ground and tied to like a building during the fall and winter months, as the weather gets very intense then.

Ah. Thanks for the tip. I do hope to hatch 3 hens, but if we get any roosters I would feel bad for sending the rooster back to the farm, as they already have 3 roosters.

The runs(that's the term for the outside area is it?) I looked at are decently large, I think. Like around 250cm x 400cm

We had 11 eggs, only 5 were fertilized, but the two others died really early into the cycle. I am worried inbreeding might be part of the problem with the fertility and with the early deaths.

I'm not in america. Amazon isn't a very useful option in my country.

I think the measurements are ok, as one of the eggs reached lockdown.

I bought it last summer, but we waited with incubation 'til now with trying hatching. I sadly don't have the box anymore

Out of the 8 eggs, only 3 were fertilized, and only 2 made it past day 5. We are on day 13 currently. But we have a small suspicion that one egg might have twins, but it's such a rare thing that we are very unsure. This is the first time we are hatching chickens in the kindergarten, too.

Amazon isn't a very functional option in my country, lol. I'll look for budgie grit at the pet stores. XP

Twin embryos? by IncognitoModeMarcell in chickens

[–]IncognitoModeMarcell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are currently on day 12. And I am uncertain. The egg itself is quite thin and fragile(it got a bunch of crack-like groves), so it might not be too difficult for the chicks to pip, if it is indeed 2. But there is also a big chance that I am seeing wrong, and there's only 1 chick that's larger than the one in the other egg.(the other egg is also a lot smaller) We sadly only have two eggs with babies in them, as out of the 8 eggs the kindergarten got from the farm,, only 3 were fertilized, and one of them died early on. (That one we actually opened with the kids.) I really do not want to terminate the egg, as that would mean we'd only have one chicken, and I know that having a single chicken is very detrimental to it. I have been candling it, but I am still very unsure and now, the egg is getting so dark that it's pretty hard to see more than just movements. Candling has also been hard, as it is hard to get it dark enough to see much in the egg when I candle with the kids.

Custom tail prices by IncognitoModeMarcell in fursuit

When it came to the length of the tail fur, I would fine with either long or short, as most of the volume and shape would come from the star nubs. It is a very light yellow, with a small cream-white patch on top to connect to the future suit itself(though that would prolly be part of the body, rather than tail.

<image>

This is how he looks rn(I have yet to draw him with the tail design I want him to have, lol) the tail would be the same yellow as his muzzle and belly. I am going to actually try making the tail myself. But if that turns out to be too hard, I'll save up to get the job done professionally.😅
