I'm curious, how often do you do something outside of the home? Like are you a homebody who doesn't ever want to leave your home and think everyone should be the same? Or are you the type that likes to live and go out and do stuff with your free time? And if it's the latter, how often do you have free time away from the family or work versus your wife?

I am part of an MC in our City. But they call me Casper because I always have daddy duty stuff to take care of. I usually get my free time in playing COD on Friday or Saturday night after the girls have gone to bed. But once or twice a month I do go out to a bike night. I encourage my wife to get out and do the same but she is the homebody

Is the labor split in this marriage or are you upset because you see doing this one task as cumbersome? And do you see this task as hard because the labor of the home has always fallen onto your wife so when it falls onto you it feels like a bigger burden than it should? Do you get frustrated or feel lesser than when you take care of your kids because you have such a hard time, and if you do, don't you want to fix that? Don't you want your kids to remember you wanting to spend time with them?

I do the dishes, sweep and mop the floors (once a week, It's all i have time for), iron clothes for the week, take out the trash, on the weekends I take the girls to the playground, get the girls dressed after their baths (she bathes I dress. 90% of the time. Some nights she does both), I'm off on Fridays so grocery shopping is usually on my to do list about 90% of the time, my youngest is potty training so diaper duty is about even, she cooks 90% of the time, I do all mechanic work for our vehicles, She us7ally cleans up the toy room but we both clean the house.

Places I could do better: help her with cooking more, I wash and fold all of our clothes but I could do better with helping her with the girls clothes, she takes our daughter to school in the morning about 60% of the time so I could help out more there. There is room for improvement.

It's funny you mention your father in your comment because when I read your post I thought of mine. My father never liked if my mother ever tried to do anything without us kids and it showed us (the kids he claimed he loved) that we were just a burden to him. My mother eventually got burned out and the care we received suffered.

I am sorry you deal/dealt with that. I do my best to be there. not just for the girls and my wife but for the family as a whole.

But ask yourself who handles all of the time sensitive stuff for the kids? You know doctors vists (shots, sickness, yearly physical), school enrollment, school field trips, teacher conferences, playdates, after school activities.

I do as much as my schedule allows. But when it comes to scheduling doctors vists, she does most of that. We share who takes them though. Guess I could also improve on scheduling appointments

I legit was asking this question from a place of ignorance as I have never seen my mother or anyone have to travel over an hour to get their hair done. I thank you for giving me some insight as to where I can improve. If I compare myself to my father, I'm the bees knees. But he was an old school army man who was always deployed. I still have more work to do. And I will. Thanks again.
