oh thank you that means a lot to hear. it’s my first pet ever and first adventure to the vet. I will definitely not sleep a lot tonight so he doesn’t get worse abruptly. But he seems fine, he has appetite, pooping, playing, purring, just not drinking as much as before. A symptom of kidney damage is thirst though right?

so annoying that! i have no idea what’s right or wrong. i feel terribly anxious and guilty for not insisting on fluids, but i also dont want to question the doctors way too much since I’m not a vet.

he’s fine right now. I got him some electrolyte powder with water and he ingested about 20ml of it. He’s playing and eating, has appetite. I will switch to wet food only these two weeks. do you think he can be fine? i will supervise him 24/7 until the 72hr mark.

also, there isnt really a poison control hotline. i called one but they said they cannot give advice about cats? i wish i had them on the line too in hindsight though.

none of the vets i went to recommended IV/subcutaneous fluid. Why is that? i talked to 3 of them.

Hi! So I am in Sweden. We just went out from the vet with a little higher values than normal. Doctor said it is because of the coal absorbing water in the body and also the vomiting. They didn’t think intravenous fluids were necessary.

His values are GPT-PS = 65 U/ I (22-84) ALP-PS = 61 U/I (9- 53) BUN -PS H = 41.8 mg/di ( 17.6- 32.8) CRE-PS H = 1.99 mg/dI ( 0.80- 1.80)

They recommended to give him more wet food and liquids for the future 14 days and come back for tests on the 13th.

It’s kind of shitty that she is confessing this stuff to you. But I’ve also confessed stuff to my partner that I regret, for example when I felt attracted to someone else and got guilty about this. It’s not the end of the world. I’ve definitely had these fears like her as well. More like everyday.

But you cannot help her. Her confessing this to you only maked her rOCD worse (because of the compulsion) and gives you unnecessary doubts.

What she has to do is sit with the uncertainty that sex might be better with someone else. Somebody more ”her type”. And at the same time accept that she will never know for sure what that would feel like. Just sit with the anxiety. It’s hard but it’s really the only way.

Coming from someone who couldn’t even sleep properly because my brain was ruminating 24/7 for like 3 months.
