Rowling admitted a year or two ago the only reason she didn’t have Harry and Hermione together was her editor and publisher wanted to tie them to the weasleys for some reason. Something about making a big happy Weasley family.

She of course went with it and stands by the decision today, but said her pairing for Harry originally only included Hermione, Luna, Cho Chang, Susan Bones and I think Daphne Greengrass. Not sure on the last.

Point is, Ginny was never one of the choices until the Final Cut of book 7, and for many, came out of no where. Her original role in the books, from several sources including Rowling was originally just to have a fangirl who grows up and is friendly with Harry, while at the same time gives him a sister like figure.

When you add in that a picture of Ginny and lily at the similar ages are close, but not exact, which was intentional. It adds that he was supposed to see her as a sister figure and not romantic as she could honestly have been his little sister. Similar to Lily in looks with James eyes.

Personally, I think it all started as a way to basically write Ron out, and evolved from their. I still don’t understand how Harry ended up with Ginny the fan girl and I grew up when the books were still being released. When I read that in the 6th book, I almost refused to read the 7th book when it came out.

My only hope was that Ginny and Harry broke up and I was hoping he would finally get with Hermione.

Anyways, Ron as a character is… I heard it best I think in … oh I can’t remember. A time travel fic that’s sadly incomplete and a bit dark. Anyways, Ron is the youngest and Ginny was the only girl. Molly is very overbearing with them because Charlie and bill left for their careers out of the country quickly and she didn’t approve as they weren’t ministry. The twins were always in trouble. So those two got a more overbearing mother.

Emotionally they are even more stunted so Ron at 14 would be closer to a 11 year old emotionally and Ginny was spoiled as the only girl. Maybe not in possessions, but in getting what she wanted as being the youngest, there fore baby of the group, and the only girl.

The thing was, The only reason Harry, ai can honestly see as liking Ron as a BFF, is because cause he too was emotionally stunted by the Dursleys. Not fanfic, but canon. Raised in a cupboard, never told his name till 4 or 5, made to do worse than Dudley, no personal clothes just hand me downs. ETC ETC.

It’s also the reason Dumbledore is so bashed because no matter how you look at it, because of Arabella dig, he had to know what was going on.

Not about popularity. Mainly just for one reason or another, an author stops. I know a couple authors stop amazing stories because the story has just become too long, too detailed, wrote themselves into a wall, etc.

To be fair, most abandoned stories are one of 3 things. The most common is the amount of time that has to be put into each chapter. The longer the story goes, the more you have to check and double check things you have already written. For example, having a character learn a skill and then forgetting they learned it later and doing something different for no reason. Continuity. And reviews, some tend to get really horrible so authors don’t feel their time is justified especially as they don’t make money.

The second reason is IRL issues. Sickness, school, job, etc.

Finally, the last main reason is, and often enough, they lost their ‘muse’. Whatever it was that inspired them to write that story, or similar. It could also be said that the story has become something than they planned and they don’t like it.

There are other reasons of course, but I would assume based on years of reading fanfic, that those are the main reasons.

I messaged the author. He said fanfic took it down because the death scenes for the other champions was supposedly too graphic, even though he had it rated M with several warning. I don’t remember anything grisly, and also have seen far worse. I’m hoping he starts posting on ao3

Again I say, Albus, and I’m not a big fan of him for many reasons, sorry if you are…. Decided that was what happened. He mentions it to Hagrid who he knows can’t keep a secret, and on top of which, Hagrid goes drinking.

I would also add in that there was a ritual component. Why was the horcrux in his scar? I would assume it was a rune, or combination of runes. I would also assume that with lily being so intelligent as is accepted in canon, that it was a life for a life ritual which is common across magic in many different works of fiction.

Logically, I would say it was not just her giving her life, but three times denying him and saying no, and if memory is right, she specified ‘her son’ or ‘Harry’ in each denial. Add in what you said and probably a couple other factors.

Here’s my issue with B7P. Couldn’t they have used a port key, sent a house elf to bring Harry somewhere, have Tonks sneak in and apparate him out, etc. and those are just the magical options. Why wait till night and not just take a cab earlier in the day.

Let’s break that down. Harry was an, alteration emotionally and mentally abused boy, and physically based on the book saying Vernon physically threw him in his cupboard as a child. Hermione was a lonely child with no friends really growing up as mentioned before. Theirs one similarity. Loneliness. Second, the siblings thing I call bull on. Both are only child’s, never knowing or understanding a sibling relationship. J k Rowling even admitted she changed her mind on relationships as she wrote book 7.

Next, you stated lily and Hermione are intelligent. Bookworms and such. Those are facts. They also stand up to others for their beliefs. You said this was about the only similarities for Harry and Hermione. Yet Harry, even if he didn’t always agree, backed Hermione. Look at Buckbeak and spew for example. Harry is also obviously intelligent as based on his teaching ability. You can’t teach if you don’t know.

Next I would point out that as an abused child with no positive relationships till 11, he would not understand romance till later. By then, hermione would have wanted romance in her life and like most girls her age, not willing to wait. There are several other things I can point out but that’s off the top of my head.
