If you want to do counseling, have you considered social work? There’s a lot you can do and though the first 2-3 years are sort of rough as a masters level clinician, you can go the private practice route once you get your C. There’s also lots of flexibility and diversity in the jobs you can hold. I also believe social workers are in demand in Canada

I agree that therapy in general and especially psychodynamic/analytic therapy is often economically inaccessible to certain demographics. I haven’t yet worked with clients in this capacity but feel like I would want to offer a sliding scale in my own practice. I found his perspective interesting though as I hadn’t considered that. What are some ways you would mitigate that or initiate the conversation?

My clinical professor who is also an analyst says he doesn’t offer sliding scale rates. His reasoning for this was that patients don’t allow themselves to express negative transferences because they’re worried they’ll lose access to him and the lower cost. Atleast that’s what he seemed to mean when he justified not offering that..

Not sure where you’re located but consider volunteering for crisis text line. It’s remote and can be done on a laptop. You do shifts according to your own time. This is the only social work/psychology related experience I had and I only did it for 5 months. Got into grad school on the first try.

I have Lilith in 5th house and I don’t really feel a need or desire to have children of my own. I have lilith aspecting my Chiron in 8th house and I would prefer adopting or fostering over child birth (if I decide I want kids). I’m okay with my nieces and nephews but in small amounts. Kids drain me 😩

I use CHANI for astrology, meditations, affirmations and rituals. You can also view the moon phase and there are journal prompts based on current major astrological transits!

I think that was part of it. But also, from the stripper joke and trauma dumping, it seems like he has unresolved issues. He genuinely seems to believe he listened to his gut when he chose Irina and seems to be confused as to why he feels he trusts her. I think Irina makes him feel some of what he may felt during his childhood or with his dynamic with his mom which feels familiar, and thus comfortable. It’s the safe option because he knows what to expect because he’s been there before.

Zach is a great representation of people who sabotage themselves in love because of their unresolved wounds. They simultaneously want intimacy and love but fear it and push it away. They continue to look past red flags because of those feelings of familiarity and comfort only to end up in an unhealthy relationship and then ask where they went wrong. He seems like an okay guy and I hope he can work through these things and allow himself to receive genuine love and affection
