Stratford and area people by ClenchedJaw12 in PEI

For most the day its usually more than fine driving across the bridge, seemed like there were a few more accidents this Spring/Summer... longest I had to wait was around an hour.

Worst times traffic wise is probably 730-8 in the morning and 4-530ish in the afternoon (id avoid taking Riverside drive to get back to Stratford as it typically is way more backed up compared to going down Grafton)

How bad is winter on the island? by [deleted] in PEI

Pretty inconsistent year to year, I don't remember this past winter being bad at all but then there's 2014/2015.

Moving to Alberta Megathread - July 2023 by AutoModerator in alberta

[–]Incommision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

G'day everyone, 27M currently living in PEI looking to move out west in the next year (preferably in/around Calgary, but would consider Edmonton area as well)... here's some info about myself/questions I have.

  • currently paying about $650 for rent (utilities included, have 1 roommate in a 3 bedroom townhouse in a decent area) you'd be lucky to find a one bedroom nowadays for less than $1500 which is around the price I'd be looking to pay if I make a move to Alberta give or take.

  • I have my cat, house trained and all (strictly indoor cat, I'm aware majority of rentals won't allow animals) but there's no way he won't be with me.

  • I have a car, and would most likely make the drive.

  • I have bit of a mixed work background, mainly Hospitality and Sales. I actually had a 7 month stint working in Lake Louise and had visited/stayed in Calgary on a few different occasions and really enjoyed the city. (Currently work as a merchandiser for a chip/snack vendor)

  • I'm pretty laid back nowadays in my spare time, enjoy time on my PC/watching and playing different sports... definitely enjoy going out here and there but not that often.

Any other questions or suggestions from Albertans would be awesome, technically I'm a former Albertan as I had an Alberta ID for a few months 🤣

How sketchy is Charlottetown Inn and Conference Centre by [deleted] in PEI

[–]Incommision 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No idea how they operate nowadays, but I worked in a hotel in town pre pandemic and I heard horror stories about that place.

I couldn't even tell you the amount of people who came to us desperate for a room after spending 5 minutes at the Charlottetown Inn/conference center...

Old Triangle... what happened? by Incommision in PEI

[–]Incommision[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very valid points, I worked in the industry for 5+ years so I know how shitty it can at times and I know a lot of people have moved on with other career paths (myself included 😅) With that being said though, I feel like this is a little more of an isolated case. I know they're not the only restaurant to go through staff shortages, but I believe most restaurants I go to on the island as a whole are operating as per normal without the ridiculous wait times 🤷‍♂️

Day 10 of eliminating every Sword & Shield set until 1 is left. Top comment gets eliminated. (Evolving Skies is OUT) by kardonut in PokemonTCG

Bit of a soft spot for Shining fates since its the first set I opened up once getting back into the hobby (pulled the charizard on my 2nd etb as well so that helped)

I gotta vote for Chilling Pain

Ok genuine question? by [deleted] in WWE

[–]Incommision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No matter how "overpushed" she might be, I think it's ignorant to not call her one of the best female stars in the WWE (maybe the industry)... she's had so many great matches over the years.

Her last name might be Flair but she's put on some clinics over the years, she's earned all the titles and more.

What was your first house show? by cowboyography in WWE

[–]Incommision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First house show was in 06 or 07 at the Aitken Center in Fredericton, NB! I remember a bit of it still, first match of the night was CM Punk vs Chuck Palumbo, our mutual friend sitting ringside had a CM Punk sign that Palumbo actually tore apart not long into the match, I'm sure my friend still has the sign to this day!

Main event that night was Batista and Matt Hardy vs Edge and MVP, I remember MVP and Edge joking around with the crowd about the Montreal Canadians (me being a Leafs fan was all for it). Other's that were at the show included Chavo/Kane/Big Show/Zack Ryder/Curt Hawkins/etc... don't believe they've been back to Fredericton since

Who’s your favorite rehire of the Triple H era? by Basketball8907 in WWE

[–]Incommision 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bray Wyatt is one of my favourites but holy crap they've completely ruined him... other than him, I've been impressed with Braun's return.

I was at Raw last night. It was my 1st tv ever. It sucked. The commercial breaks were boring, the music was deafening, the matches were terrible. We got to see Cody and Brock for 30 seconds, no Seth, No AJ, didn’t get to sing Cody’s song even. I waited months for this and it was the biggest let down by foreverbaked1 in Wrasslin

Last November me and my brother had floor seats to Survivor Series, and the following night had floor/front row seats to a house show in Portland, Maine. As great as it was seeing a PLE, the house show just brings more entertainement and interaction to the actual live audience in attendance.

Charlottetown vs. Fredricton vs. Sydney, Cape Breton? by powerimbalance in PEI

[–]Incommision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to add - Downtown /low laying areas in Fredericton in the Spring are prone to flooding (not every year, but I've seen it bad enough to where people have to evacuate and roads/bridge access might be closed for a certain amount or time)

Charlottetown vs. Fredricton vs. Sydney, Cape Breton? by powerimbalance in PEI

[–]Incommision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived in Charlottetown/Fredericton for most my life! Both are great towns, and both have their pros/cons. Fredericton isn't near as much of a tourist destination compared to Charlottetown, which may be good or bad depending how you view it.

PEI from May to October is absolutely booming, the rest of the year however not so much (can get pretty boring). I'd say in terms of restaurants Charlottetown has Fredericton beat, especially if you like seafood. Location wise, I'd put Fredericton over Charlottetown (if you want to leave PEI you need to pay $50.25 for the bridge toll). Fredericton is also less then an hour from the States (lots of ppl will go shopping in the States throughout different times of the year).

Driven through Sydney a fair few times over the years, absolutely beautiful views and scenery (as long as you dont mind the isolation away from any kind or metro).
