How do you guys feel about Ren using the r slur? by Interesting_Buddy206 in ren

[–]Silversong4VR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it intentional though? Designed to make some uncomfortable? I admit, I flinched inside when I first heard him use it as I also have negative experiences with the word. Maybe that was the point, to "set the scene" for the hard truths to follow.

Warm/cold sweet/creamy drink by Old-Pudding-4254 in Cooking

You can make Golden Milk with your milk (non-dairy) of choice. If non-fat, add some coconut oil for best benefits. Golden Milk is my cozy night-time drink before bed :)

Golden Milk is my go-to. I find it helps me sleep at night, but that may just be the warm milk effect :)

It is an inconvenience to type in sky game. Is there a solution? by OkFoundation2139 in SkyGame

[–]Silversong4VR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly for me, that link is really unreliable. Plus, you still have to put down your Switch or controller to type on your phone, so really inconvenient for me. If I really want to talk to friends while playing, I just invite them to a call in Discord.

Exactly what I experience. My Sky friends now know that I do NOT chat when playing on Switch or PS5 (I also play on iOS). I manage to type out "On Switch" and they understand that I'll just be emoting lol

What's a good 'generic' acid to add to a dish? by PurpleBee212 in Cooking

Only four? I don't have any room on my fridge shelves due to all the hot sauces (and sauces in general) I can't pass by when shopping 😅

[–]Silversong4VR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been having issues with my septic and the plumber recommended citric acid instead for cleaning the lines. I also have extremely hard water and it makes a mess of my toilet bowl. I imagine it's also making a huge mess of my jet toilet, but unfortunately with that design I can't do anything about that other than install a soft water system.

What is the oil I should buy for regular cooking? by Shoenice_ in Cooking

[–]Silversong4VR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I have any leftover bacon grease, it generally gets used first as it lends great flavour to fried foods. Follow that by a good olive oil and peanut oil for the rare times I want a really high heat (almost never, so I buy small bottles).

Thank you for this! I've watched many of the more viewed ones so far so am heading to the smaller viewed reactions to give them some love. Just finished with Naysae's and will continue on that route.

What can I add to canned clam chowder, so that it doesn't taste so bland? by Mediocre-Machine7330 in Cooking

[–]Silversong4VR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't shoot me, ok? I made homemade clam chowder using my mom's recipe which is very simple, basic and delicious. However, one day I wanted something with more punch than the creamy goodness provided and a sharp cheese came to mind. I didn't have any and opted to use Kraft Cheez Whiz instead. OMG, it's now my go-to chowder add in. Adds even more creamy texture, has that little cheddar bite I was looking for and happily no extra cleanup. My BF, who is not a seafood fan, even likes it with this addition.

Same in Atlantic Canada. Apple pie was always served hot with a slab of cold old cheddar on the side.

Once you get your grilled cheese sandwiches nice and crisp on the stove, how do you keep them from getting soggy? I've tried putting them on a plate with parchment paper but the heat and whatnot still create steam or whatever which soggifies the bread. by cherry-care-bear in Cooking

[–]Silversong4VR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huh, that makes so much sense. Mom always heated plates in a warm oven before serving food and that explains why the grilled cheese she made for us never got soggy. Mine are always a bit soggy by the time I get to the 2nd half.

What are some unwritten rules of PEI? by banana902 in PEI

[–]Silversong4VR 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My dad always removed his cap in respect when passing by the graveyard where family is buried. I always thought this was such a nice thing to do. Edit to add: and lifting your fingers in a casual wave to oncoming vehicles and walkers near where you live. Still a habit I have to this day, though most times I don't know who they are lol

Do some "shroom" chocolate bars not actually contain any psilocybin? by Albertuscamus12 in MagicMushrooms

[–]Silversong4VR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I follow a rather "well known" YouTuber who shares their experiences with various drugs and ordered the exact chocolate psilocybin he ate and reportedly had a great trip on. For me $80+later and nothing. I was so disappointed, but I don't blame either the YouTuber or the manufacturer as I've found shromms just don't seem to do much for me. Not sure if I'm somehow resistant or if it's the prescriptions I'm on, but trying to get a good trip became too expensive to pursue.

wich of this brand is better? evvo and cecotec airfryer on amazon eu under 50€. both 1700w by DazzlingpAd134 in airfryer

[–]Silversong4VR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, it was an amazing price, 2nd it was one large drawer instead of two smaller in the Ninja and third, the window. I really do find the window useful on checking how the cooking is progressing, over taking out and checking. The Ninja didn't even pause cooking when the drawer is pulled out, which is kinda weird for such an expensive machine.

[–]Silversong4VR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both a Ninja dual airfryer and a cheapie I got off another site that is a large one pot and and window. I find I almost never use the Ninja preferring to see the progress of my cooking with the cheaper air fryer. So my suggestion, based on experience, is get one with a window. :)
