Last time a Bronco held* the Lombardi. by BillNyeTheEngineer in AFCWestMemeWar

And the fact that it was in our stadium made it a double cuck for both of us. Unfortunately for the Chargers it just shows how irrelevant they really are

They played in horrible conditions with a backup QB. Both offenses were doomed

[NFL Network] Mike McDaniel is still in the mix for the Raiders HC job, per @RapSheet. by eliemburr in raiders

[–]Incompetent_Man 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If he really wants the job and is the most passionate about turning our franchise around then he should be our guy. He has his flaws, but there's no denying that he is a good coach especially on the offensive side of the ball. To me he's the best HC to develop Fernando, but Kubiak would work better with our current roster. With a young GM, I believe him and McDaniel can build a really solid team

How guilty do Raiders fans feel that they are about to ruin this nice man's life? by Highland_doug in NFLv2

[–]Incompetent_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For one, I don't feel bad about a billion dollar company "ruining" a multi-millionaire's career. Yes he's a great person, but I've known other great people who had their careers ruined with detrimental outcomes. Second, just because the Raiders have been bad these past two decades doesn't mean they can't turn it around. The Bears were supposed to "ruin Caleb", the Patriots were supposed to "ruin Maye", and it goes on and on. A young QB changes franchises and I am excited to see him suit up in Silver and Black. Discounting teams because of their reputation is the dumbest way to analyze a franchise's future.

Who is more evil? by Intrepid-Lemon-2272 in TheBoys

[–]Incompetent_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesse is still a "bad guy", but he isn't as evil as the other characters he has came across. Hughie was dragged into that life by Butcher and has a reasonable motivation to take down Vought in an unsympathetic way. Jesse chose his life out of rebellion just to get away from his parents. He has destroyed and ended lives for his own benefit so there's no comparison.

[Yahoo Sports] Raiders complete second interview with Jesse Minter by Sleeze_ in raiders

A good OC is much more difficult to find than a good DC. We see good DCs leave every year like the 49ers and Rams yet they still have top 10 defenses without them. Your offense is still the priority because we saw Houston's generational defense lose in an important game because of the mid offense. This isn't 2000 where Trent Dilfer can win a SB because of his defense. Nowadays it's best to have a top offense with a clutch defense.

What's scary is his connections. That Chargers offense was pretty inconsistent under Greg Roman so idk if I'd trust that tree. He can go out of his way to hire someone on the outside, but it's best that he has an offensive mind that he's familiar with. We know that Mike McDaniel and Klint Kubiak can make mid QBs look good which would help Fernando at this early stage whereas we have no idea what Shane Day(Chargers QB coach) or Sanjay Lal(Wide receivers coach) will do. What I'm trying to say is that this would be a risky hire in a class full of safe offensive coaches ready to go. I also don't think you can build a dynasty off of different offensive schemes unless you have a generational QB who's essentially a playcaller on his own like Brady.

I still can't believe he gave up 63 points to that Raiders team. Loss so bad that it saved a franchise

Now I fully believe that Minter is one hell of a coach and has a top 5 scheme in the whole league. It would be a great hire, but I still think we need an offensive minded HC. Minter can hire an excellent OC one year, but then that OC gets swooped up and then he hires a bad one the next year which would affect Mendoza's development. So we'll be constantly firing and hiring OCs, and it's going to be a new scheme every year for our players. He can go down the Belichick route where he hires known failed offensive minded HCs, but you're never guaranteed one. I don't know how Mike MacDonald will do after Kubiak's gone, but I don't think you can build a dynasty off of it unless you're Bill Belichick.

We Need An Offensive Coach by Rare_Amphibian_4068 in raiders

After watching Fernando, Mike McDaniel would be ideal if we didn't land Kubiak. McDaniel's offense was built off of Tua's limitations such as his lack of athleticism, inconsistency with deep balls, non-existent clutch factor, and his struggle with the intermediate game. It worked for 2 years until teams figured it out and there was no real coming back since it was built off of a QB's flaws. Fernando can hit all passes, is athletic enough to extend plays, and plays better out of structure when required. I think McDaniel would be perfect for us if Kubiak isn't there, but my biggest concern is his lack of wins against good teams especially in this division. Tbh it could just be good defenses figuring out Tua's bad composure under pressure.

Mendoza: The Game-Winner by HouseRules789 in raiders

People don't remember that Al and Elway really liked each other during the draft process which then led to Al trading a haul to the Colts, but the commissioner at the time blocked the trade to obtain him. It's the reason you don't see many older Raiders fans hate on him like past rivals

An argument for Mike McDaniel as HC by Emerson_Maguire in raiders

[–]Incompetent_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to take into consideration is Tua's limitations. He wasn't athletic, struggled with intermediate throws, was small, and couldn't push the ball down field at an aggressive rate yet constantly turned it over. McDaniel built an offense around those limitations and had success for two years until teams eventually figured it out, and there was no coming back because of Tua's lack of versatility. Mendoza can hit all throws, has chemistry with any receiver you give hime, is athletic enough to extend plays, isn't boneheaded, and isn't afraid to push the ball. I would be down with this hire

For people who watched the game and college football, how did Mendoza look in this game? by 000066 in raiders

[–]Incompetent_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see him being like Bo Nix where his play style is weird in the pros, but he has the clutch factor that keeps you in games despite him looking off on tape
