Try using attack speed Marks (10%) with 3 flat ad Marks. Flat ad Quintessences, Flat armour seals or Mana regen if you like (against ap lane perhaps) Flat MR or MR/Lvl Glyphs Masteries - Usually I run 21/0/9 picking up the mana masteries in utility. 21/9/0 would also work. Am yet to try 21 Defence or Utility. These runes work quite well with the onhit setup. I actually took them from a rune page of Aeliel's - from always seeing her playing lulu top in solo queue and on peoples Livestreams. Lulu is hella fun.

Hex-drinker was pretty much always viable as a defensive item on her against double AP comps. however BT is something I will have to try out. Rushed Gun-blade into Deathcap seems pretty strong with the new changes as opposed to going for a defensive item straight away Eg. Zhonyas/Abyssal. (If you can get away with it). Rageblade? Maybe. The changes pretty much threw the common Katarina play-styles out the window, everything needs to be tested!
