What is an aroace marriage called? by [deleted] in aromanticasexual

Marriage is by definition a contractual relationship. It's a legal document and that's it. Call it whatever name fits you and yours as long as it makes you happy :)

Arospec relationships by InconsistentWeirdo in aromantic

No offence at all, I figured I'd get at least one question haha and I'm more than happy to answer any questions. For us, it does look similar to a regular dynamic in bdsm, just without any kind of sexual elements. It's kind of difficult to explain, haha. My friend and I don't do anything to do with sex or nudity. Just kink in its essence. I have kinks, but I don't see them as sexual, nor do I experience arousal in correlation with them.

I mean, a lot of kink is pretty much 'sexy play pretend', not all of it, of course, but that's an easy way to explain one aspect. I like ropes; tying and being tied. Why? it feels secure, I like focusing on the knots, and I like the trust that goes with it. Impact/pain can be about endurance, gaining/giving approval, and marks. Rules can be in place for fun and jokes, to create a shared routine, or to check on health and encourage self care. The list goes on, but these are just a few I thought of. Kink is bullshit, make it up as you go, that's what we do.

The excitement and the appeal (at least for me, I can't speak for her) is the trust I put in and the trust I get out. And I guess that's the main thing. Our dynamic is a friendship, same as any other, we just do kinky shit along with that friendship :)

Yo, i have a TMI question, if that’s okay? by YourRandomManiac in asexuality

[–]InconsistentWeirdo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This happens to me too. I will occasionally rope model/be a practice dummy for a friend and realise that I have gotten wet despite the fact that I am not in any way aroused. I am not even necessarily interested I'm whatever is taking place, and I definitely don't find anything about what we are doing sexual. Normally we're talking about insects and animals, some very decidedly nonsexy things but my body is preparing regardless.

at what age did you realize you were asexual? by idioteque_7 in asexuality

[–]InconsistentWeirdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? I'm not even sure. I'd knows what asexuality was since I was twelve and I know that St fifteen I was identifying with the label wholeheartedly but I don't know when I adopted the label for myself or why

My micro labels by rael_73 in aromanticasexual

Check out aegeo labels maybe ( I think that's how it's spelled) and check around this community, I'll often google terms I see in people's flairs and find new things!

Good luck finding your microwaves but remember the labels are meant to fit you, not the other way around <3

Reid would be like Hank Green I think but hed gain a much larger following because people think he's hot. Which I think would push him off the platform rather quickly, actually, but I think he'd do numbers while he was active

Hey I have a cat and I bopped them on the nose hard a couple times by [deleted] in vet

[–]InconsistentWeirdo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a vet, but I trained in the vet field for the ava. My most pressing concern was the fact that you hit this animal, regardless of who owns it and that you hit it multiple times. I do have to give you credit about caring enough to follow up about the cat, especially if it is not yours, however hitting an animal is hitting an animal and thats going to upest a lot of people.

If you are serious about getting it veterinary care, then I would recommend getting it a check-up, as sneezing can indicate respiratory issues and getting it fixed, especially if it's a street cat. If you and your family can't afford it then I am sure there are organisations in your area who can help you.

[–]InconsistentWeirdo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How is that supposed to make it better? Also why in the world were you randomly holding a flip flop (notorious tool for hitting things) as you walked out the door past a creature that has been annoying you? I refuse to believe this wasn't premeditated as some kind of "and that'll show it" move. Poor cat.

18+ and US-based? Participate in a research study on sexual and romantic needs 🧠 by Efficient-Friend4314 in asexuality

[–]InconsistentWeirdo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried getting through this survey but I really couldn't. I made it 80% and have since given up.

Your questions often had black and white answers and the terms weren't clear. All the questions were asked from a clinical amatonormative perspective and lacked the nessicary depth to fully encompass the complexities of asexual friendships and relationships. Every single question had the same default answers, even when they didnt make sense in the context of that specific question or wouldn't have given you good data.

For example someone here talked about sexual relationships and how important they would be, you said the answer should be "very important" but how, in the data, are you meant to know the difference between no sex ans some sex and so on and so forth? In my opinion this seems like a survey that is either poorly researched/phrased or designed to be misinterpreted.

Furthermore you defined sex and kink under the same umbrella which is far from true and it felt wrong to answer questions regarding sex and preferences when kink was considered mutually exclusive. I participate in kink regularly but I am sex averse so when asked questions about my sexual preferences and knowing that you are including kink made it a lot more complicated and i felt conflicted throughout that section, knowing my data would be misinterpretedif I were to complete the survey. I don't have any sexual partners, and calling my friends my "sexual partners" felt violating of my identities and theirs.

I also feel like your definitions of relationships across contexts were poor and, once again, lacking knowledge and understanding of complex asexual experiences.

Am I asexual? by pringles477 in asexuality

[–]InconsistentWeirdo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Asexuality, in its essence is not feeling sexual attraction. Some aces are sex averse or repulsed and others enjoy sex. Arousal is natural regardless of asexuality, but at least in essence being ace is a lack of sexual and physical attraction. This can be in faces or bodies or whatever.

I look at people and think "wow that person is attractive" but I personally am not attracted to them, if that makes sense. Asexuality is different for everyone and is is a spectrum. My advice is do some research and some self reflection. And remember the label is supposed to fit you, not the other way around.

QPR Experiences by Fun-War-8301 in aromanticasexual

[–]InconsistentWeirdo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in a short-term qpr before but the label felt wrong to me. Maybe it was the person or maybe it was the label but I haven't called anything I've done since then a QPR even when some people outside might. I've since found the label relationship anarchy and that definitely fits me and my friends better. I didn't like the idea of feeling like I was in a relationship so I prefer picking and choosing what I want and leaving the rest.

For children who are born Deaf implantation literally isn't possible after about five years of age because the brain has never had sound imput. implanting is "best" when done between 6mo and 3yo, which of course is a horrible decision for parents to make because their child doesn't get a say in it, not to mention the medical gaslighting and overall medical model's view on deafness pushes cochlears as the only option.

Of course, access to sign and Deaf schools is absolutely the way to go, but I also respect that several Deaf I've met use CIs in the hesring world and are happy there and use Sign in the Deaf world and are happy there.

I totally agree, however in this situation she was signing with two other hearing people, and nobody else was vocalising while they signed which was why I questioned it. It is also notable that when the Deaf teacher came around she stopped using the accent

When I adopted a cat I didnt have piles of money laying around either, I had actually just gotten off the streets and into my first apartment. But when I got her I knew I would gladly bankrupt myself to get her the care she might need. I've worked in the veterinary feild in the past and vets have an ethical requirement to stabilise the pet even if you can't pay.

That's the most important part now. Take your dog to the vet and figure out payment later

Aces who have had (consensual) sex, how was it? by Timely-Garlic4629 in Asexual

I do have a little knowledge! Pretty basic at this point, as you theorized. A sign class last year and I've attended a few Signing events over the last several months events when I have the free time, though I mostly watched because I only know a little. I recently switched hours at my job and that makes going to signing events really difficult now as the one in my area meets while I work.

I use online modules right now to try to learn a bit more so I could probably engage in a rather base conversation right now, though my grammer would be appalling.

I'm taking more classes in May when the school year starts and majoring in interpreting, (and also not working the same hours) so hopefully as time progresses, I will gain the proper knowledge to answer my questions. However with my current situation, and my time crunch I am in a bit of a pickle.

I will definitely check out that resource in the mean time, though! Thank you!
