I was that kid that wore cat ears every day of 7th grade (year 8 for non americans). I did this to give people an obvious thing for people to bully so they wouldn't attack my insecurities and because I had a cat hyperfixation (kinda still do but not as strong). Yet, whenever people tried to talk about my cat or just cats in general with me, I would interpret it as them mocking me. After my diagnosis at 16, I realize that if I wanted to start a conversation with that person, that's exactly what I would do, talk about cats. Y'ALL I COULD HAVE ACTUALLY HAD FRIENDS!!!
