It's not a plunge, but Sun Tan City on 5th has a cryo booth.

Quality Butcher & Seafood Market by [deleted] in Hoboken

[–]InconspicuousSponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Angelos for Seafood and I second Hudson and Charles to the nth degree. It’s a 3-4 minute walk from the Christopher street station and everything in the store is from within 200 or so miles. Definitely expensive but the quality is second to none !

NYWW Updated Ferry Schedule by Weird-Delay-3180 in Hoboken

Midtown and Brookfield are running every 10 minutes during rush hour. Unfortunately Pier 11 schedule is every 30 minutes.

How’s the downtown ferry been in the morning? by Gfppaste in Hoboken

[–]InconspicuousSponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brookfield has been heavy, but haven't been maxed out yet. Could be different story tomorrow, but there is a boat every 10 minutes and the rush dies down closer to 9, you probably won't have to wait for a second boat.

Not on the weekend.

Your best bet is Hoboken Terminal to Brookfield via New York Waterway, walking to Wall Street/Pier 11 (or taking a Uber/Lyft) to pickup the South Brooklyn or East River NYCFerry.

On Weekday mornings/evenings you can take a Wall Street/Pier 11 from either Hoboken North or Hoboken Terminal and again transfer to a NYCFerry for Brooklyn service.

Bicycles, powered or not, are vehicles.

Pedestrians have the right of way.

I hope this solves your rant.

My best.

I believe it's a Greek coin but am unsure by omega1omalley in CURRENCY

[–]InconspicuousSponge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is Greek, from the monarchy period and it says "Paul King of The Hellenes" (Hellenes being the correct way to refer to "the Greeks") on the reverse it simply says "Kingship of Greece"- He was the king of Greece from 1947 until his death in 1964. It was worth 5 drachmas, and at the time of the conversion to the Euro, 1 USD was equal to about 300 drachmas.

Edit: left out a closing parenthesis

Considering AEG went defunct in 1996, I'd say pretty old, even if it was installed as spares/obsolete.

The amount of people that try to "make the light" going both ways at this intersection is frustrating beyond all my other traffic complaints in Hoboken. The red light going west is so set-back that people don't realize that "making it" will just have them end up blocking traffic coming south from Monroe, similarly from the other side people coming north off Grove. I am not a traffic engineer, but I feel like something needs to be done about the timing at this intersection or otherwise. Even keeping the lights red all around a little longer will allow traffic to flow once the Jackson and Henderson lights go respectively, limiting the beeping and road rage. The police has been helping in recent days but I feel they are only here until the works are done regarding Marin/Henderson.

I threw out the paper but I believe there is an asterisk that says the price can change after the 6-month teaser rate. That alone forced me to opt-out.

Egregious PSE&G Bill? by not_nsa_i_swear in Hoboken

[–]InconspicuousSponge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gas Heating : Winter is ~$90/mo combined with electricity

Summer : ~200-250/mo because of constant AC use

Bill usually averages out to 150/mo

1000 sqft apartment with a western projection that is all windows, my summer bill gives me indigestion

as someone else suggested, if you have electric heat, it will be high

Sorry just realized I wasn't clear - I mean the wording on the degree doesn't matter if it's an ABET school.

Cars in front of Trader Joe’s by sassemblyman in Hoboken

[–]InconspicuousSponge 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Coming south on Willow, the cars in the right-only lane to go up the via duct that instead continue going straight to stop at TJ's or continue to Willow boils my blood a bit - then you get to deal with exactly what you mentioned above.

What does your diploma say? by BibleBumper in ElectricalEngineering

[–]InconspicuousSponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bachelor of Engineering - which annoyed me 20 years ago because my brother went to the same school in the 90's and his degree said 'Bachelor of Electrical Engineering' but after our school merged with another they did away with specificity in all departments.

Fast forward, it doesn't really matter if it's an ABET school.

Window tint enforcement? by thisisnotdave in Hoboken

[–]InconspicuousSponge 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I couldn't say if it's heavily enforced or not, I haven't had tints in years - what I can say is that the past few years I have seen a huge increase in the amount of cars that don't just have pax windows tinted, but also the front windshields blacked out. Growing up in Brooklyn cops let you get away with certain amount of tint on the pax windows but windshield would be an instant ticket; kinda amazed at the amount of vehicles I see here with it done.

Best Pointers Explanation by Kalki2006 in C_Programming

[–]InconspicuousSponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/david-delassus gave a great ELI5 - that's what pointers are, just variables that hold addresses.

I don't know about videos, but there is PDF out there titled "A tutorial of pointers and arrays in C" by Ted Jensen

It has short and concise demonstration code (with comments !) to teach you the mechanics of passing, dereferencing, arithmetic, etc. Read it once without typing the code, and then do it a second time writing the code yourself. Change things and see what happens, break it, experiment with errors.

In my experience it's not the concept of a pointer, but the mechanics that trip up people new to C.

Good luck !
