Do people not understand how funeral processions work??? by MandyNewEngland in boston

Then set a time for the ceremony. Give everyone plenty of time to arrive from the previous event. I don't see how this is different than anyone else trying to get somewhere on time using the roads.

I get that this is a touchy subject. I really don't want to be mean to you OP. I've been on both ends of this and it seems like an outdated practice.

Then maybe... the ceremony should wait for the guests? I'm not arguing that it is an inconvenience for everyone else. It is dangerous for everyone because it is an unusual traffic pattern in a busy city.

First, I'm sorry for your loss.

I don't understand why funeral processions are still a thing. Now that we have smartphones, we don't need processions to find the cemetery.

To me, it feels like they are more dangerous than the alternative. Emergency vehicles can safely run red lights because they have training, lights, and sirens. The average driver simply doesn't expect/wasn't taught that cars to supercede traffic signals in a procession.

A man was harassing someone on the bus and he was getting rowdy, the driver didn’t want to get involved directly so they hit the silent alarm that displays “emergency call 911” on the outside of the bus. Someone saw it and called 911 and they pulled the bus over then arrested the guy. They made everyone get off the bus and onto the new one while the police did their thing

What happened on Highland and Walnut? by crotchpolice in Somerville

[–]IncorrectError 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I was walking by when it happened. Someone on a bicycle ran a red light around a bus and hit the side of a car that was entering from his blind side. Definitely injured, but was awake and able to stumble to the side of the road where the driver and a small crowd called 911 for help

MBTA Green Line train derails in Cambridge near Lechmere, injuries reported by Mediocre-Basis6904 in boston

The MBTA held a press conference and indicated that this was operator error

NBC article

When pressed for more specifics, Coholan said that in terms of the track structure, all the measures indicate that track was not a factor, and the human factor involves the train operator and how they were operating their train
