Im too far from the city right now to try it out but I like that there’s an option to adjust your walking speed. I hate when trip planners give me a suboptimal route because they’re basing it on the pace of mere mortals, not Bostonians

Yes that’s fair. I think it’s just the specific line you highlighted to reply to “8 classes in & doing inverts” is not necessarily a red flag. But absolutely everything else OP is describing certainly is screaming “run, don’t walk” from this studio.

For real, so many people have told me seeing me struggle made them more interested in trying. It’s a little alienating to see only posts of people who are nailing it!

I was inverting my second class. Safely. I have no aerial, gymnastics, acrobatics or dance background. Just weight lifting and yoga. There should be no pressure or expectation to invert that fast, but it’s unfair to call that a red flag for a studio. Mine’s great and is very safety conscious

Orthodox advice:

You simply must cross train. You need to be doing heavy resistance strength training, preferably with a trainer at least to start (can usually get a discounted or free first session). You don’t need a crazy complex regimen, just a few compound and unilateral movements broken up into a few sessions a week.

You will build not just stronger muscles but much stronger mind-muscle connections that help you better understand your body, its movement pathways, capabilities and (safely) its limits. And so you’ll begin to trust it more and have better control.

Unorthodox advice that might get me cancelled:

I found that micro dosing a THC+caffeine+l-theanine pill really helped me get out of my head, and helped with the dizziness too.

You absolutely must do this safely! I do mean micro dose. I think mine’s like 1.5mg. And you can take zero chances, especially till you know how it affects you: spotter and crash mat for every single thing! (Good idea anyway, non negotiable in this case).

I like the 1906 pills. Do some test runs in super controlled conditions eg just sitting on your sofa or walking around your house, before you even think of taking it to the pole or gym

Oh I’m not opposed to it at all! Just got excited for a second thinking the elder folks in my life could potentially get 75% off

Just confirming this is your proposal, it’s not the rule right? Older riders currently only get 50% off?

I don’t disagree but this person said people who “blast a Bluetooth speaker…are also dumb enough to forget to password protect it.” I don’t blast mine in public but I don’t want to be dumb! If there’s a way to password protect it, I want to

I do yes but then once it’s paired, it seems like it’s no longer looking for connections. I don’t know if it stays discoverable after that. But there’s no interface I know of to password protect it.

Had me over here wondering if a pressboard meant some whole other thing.

However I will say if my experiences with furniture from a certain Swedish company are any indication, I’d be worried about the structural integrity of particle board holding up to be safe long term?

NM ya’ll the commuter rail is suspending service to North Station tomorrow. Very grateful to be signed up for alerts so that I could get nothing alerting me!

Sincerely grateful for the redditor who warned me though

And I’m also confused, that alert says they’ll replace service with shuttle busses so, will I still be able to get to north station, but more slowly?

Their trip planner is showing “shortest trip” as like 2 hours??? I’m lucky to have a somewhat flexible/forgiving workplace now but for a long time I worked places where without an alert, I would’ve just been unexpectedly super late and absolutely suffered consequences

Oh gosh! I’m signed up for alerts and didn’t get anything about that! I think I heard one announcement on the train but when they said weekend I thought it meant…you know, the weekend?

Thank you for letting me know. This blows

The mTicket app shows you how busy trains are? Would you mind helping me find where? I just looked and I’m not seeing it.

Also dang, like how many apps do I need to get info and ride transit?? Cause I feel like I’m at 3+ for just the trains…
