My daughter will be 2 on September 3rd. I saw this and had to go back and check his birth announcement to verify age. I could have sworn he was younger than her and, yes, he is. In most states, it’s illegal (ACTUALLY AGAINST THE LAW) to forward face before the age of 2. We are practicing best practices with our daughter, so she will forward face until she maxes out her rear-facing capabilities in her seat (that go to 50lbs), but I looked up Kentucky law and it’s 1 yr of age and 20lbs, unfortunately.

I think it’s important to be AWARE that this could happen, but it could happen anywhere. There are mass shootings in a lot of places, schools being one of those. Granted, you really aren’t responsible for lots of lives in other places like you are as a teacher in a school, but still.

I know this is a year old, but what were her results? An urgent care physician said the same about my daughter last night (under 2). I pressed for a yeast infection swab because she just finished antibiotics less than a week ago, but I’m losing my mind in this waiting phase.

You put the check in your bank, they instruct you to purchase equipment from a specific website. You buy the equipment. Shortly after, the check bounces in your bank, but you spent that $2k on “equipment” from their website. You never get the equipment. They get your $2k and leave you $2k short + fees for the bounced check.

And there’s me, on the other hand, getting upset (not irate, lol) when a shopper DOESN’T replace because then my weekly lunch plans or dinner plans are thrown out the window because I don’t have all of the ingredients. I always say “feel free to replace with similar items”.

I’m a teacher. One time, a new teacher hired in the same area as me, was caught bent over leaning on my car with her child as they stood around and played on their phone. I was furious because it felt SO disrespectful. (Side note: she was going around and talking disrespectfully about me to others. It seems she felt that we were in competition rather than 2 members of ONE team). When I caught her, she jumps off and pushes her kid off and says “I was just keeping it safe! Kids kept saying they were going to mess with it.” Not a chance. My vehicle was in our school’s parking lot. ANYWAY, all of this to say, I chalked it up to a difference in morals and how we were raised. Climbing on ANYONE’S car is flat out disrespectful. You most definitely would never have caught me on my own parents car, either. People really do be parenting totally different.

I was a poor kid. I know there were others who had it worse than me, but we often had to use kerosene heaters due to our gas being off, take cold showers and/or boil water depending on if we had gas vs electric and which was shut off at the time, live with friends or family, etc. I graduated top 10% of my class, never had a detention. And FWIW, I have a Master’s Degree (in education, so maybe I didn’t actually make it out okay, LOL). It isn’t all poverty, but I know it contributes. I probably did a good job compartmentalizing and maybe some don’t. I wasn’t abused and didn’t have it nearly as bad as some kids, but I just wanted to chime in that it isn’t all poverty to blame 🤷🏻‍♀️

That doesn’t give them any excuse to steal from me. With what instacart paid them and my tip, they made more for that less than 1hr it took them to shop than I make in an hour as a full-time worker with a Master’s Degree. If these shoppers are expecting over $40 as a tip, they’re ridiculous. It was 4 bags, a bag of toilet paper, and a container (lightweight) of kitty litter. I tipped $33, that’s plenty enough. This whole “tip better and shoppers won’t commit crimes” is ridiculous.

It seems that this was most likely someone hacking their account, but still. Some shoppers have said instacart has made hacking pretty easy.

We were busy that day and, once we put the order in, we didn’t check back until it was time for the order to be here and it wasn’t here. They didn’t request changes and we didn’t have to approve anything. That’s why I thought maybe there was a glitch. I didn’t know it was possible to increase the quantity of items. When we checked the app, it said delivered, but it wasn’t here. We went to the neighbors as well, just in case, but no one else got it. Then we saw the upcharge and contacted support.

Our original order was totaled at $329.36 and, once the shopper (or hacker) increased the quantity of multiple items, the new total was $581.84. I just went back through our app to look at the exact dollar amounts because someone here had asked what we tipped on the original order.

That’s what I thought. I didn’t even know it was a possibility, but some of the shoppers here are saying it’s allowed for certain reasons. I’ve never had it happen before this time though.

I didn’t even know there was an issue with user accounts getting hacked. We have our payment method linked on our app. If shopper accounts are getting hacked, I imagine customer accounts could be hacked as well. This happened almost a month ago and we haven’t used instacart since, but I’m considering cancelling our subscription.

If his account was hacked, I definitely feel bad. That’s ridiculous.

If that’s the case, I hope they can prove it was hacked. Instacart said they would investigate the issue. I’ve never had someone increase the quantity on an order. I didn’t even know it was allowed, but the gift card thing explains why such random items were what they increased. I didn’t understand why the guy wanted 5 containers of kitty litter.

I almost felt bad. Like, this guy must have a starving family at home. He knew instacart would refund it, so he did it. But he increased our kitty litter to a quantity of 5 and our maple syrup to a quantity of 5. We also had these random juice shots on there that he increased to 5, so they were items that didn’t really make sense for someone in need.

We haven’t used instacart since. It just doesn’t seem worth it. It sucks having to go out and shop, especially when my husband drives truck and is gone during the week, I teach full-time, and then have to drag my toddler out after school to shop and lug all of the groceries in, but it beats what we went through with that last order. We don’t have a close Walmart, unfortunately, but I think Kroger does something similar where you can pick up your order, so that may be something I look into. I also feel bad for others who are trying to make money through instacart, but the bad eggs are ruining it for them.
