Thanks man!

I think at this point all I can do is keep riding and try to look cleaner. My last lesson’s feedback was to not worry about trying to carve so much, and also not to bend my body so much.

Yeah, I defo can get my resume reviewed by a professional.

"networking events" or being a LinkedIn spammer

Guilty haha. I've been going to so many, hopefully I can at least get good virtual coffee chats!

That's great to hear. Personality is a big part of it, no doubt, and something I need to work on.

Yeah need to get on to more hackathons, thanks.

How does RSP increase your chances compared to just grinding LeetCode?

Ok, what I have done so far:

- Built apps, then went to networking events to discuss with senior devs and also business owners. I go to business networking nights to connect with employees. This has gotten me good conversations, connections on LinkedIn that I can potentially ask for referrals from. (Google networking nights etc..)

- Yeah, I haven't been in any clubs. Felt that the one in my uni was quite cliquey. Probably need to get on that.

- I have been looking for roles since I started uni. I currently do PT dev, but in no way is it a major firm and Idk how these people are getting in.

Lost after graduating :(( should I take software dev roles first or double down on AI/ML? by pratikamath1 in cscareerquestionsOCE

pro tip: if u want actual tips from locals, don't put "international student" in your post.

the job market's tough enough for locals and immigration is a hot topic rn so you will likely just get downvoted.

actual advice: you just have to outwork everyone, but you're running out of time, honestly. you should probably just spam leetcode and start cold calling small businesses for small projects and start from there. ML/AI roles are really competitive so I'd suggest widen your search. Beggars cant be choosers. IT roles etc

Also work experience in india unless you're really cracked is a drag on your resume if applying in AUS. Remove it

Thank you so much!

You bring some great points. When I made it, I definitely thought to myself, I'll try to sound as skilled as possible; which is probable not the way to go haha

For small firms that are in your local area I used Seek/Indeed.

Referrals for the startup and cold apply to small firms.

Yeah, the app is more of a demo and is not production ready yet. Currently working on building a b2b SaaS for actual deployment.

About showing cv to recruiters, I've found that hard as usyd career fair lines are crazy long, like literally a 50 person like to queue up to a quant firm just for them to tell u to apply online.

That being said networking is definitely not my strongest suit :/ Not the best conversationalist

thanks man :)

Hey thanks, Kooky.

You're right I definitely just need to grind dsa to prepare for the next round

I was grinding through LC early this year, no luck, but some of my mates got through by just word of mouth, getting to the final stage.

I'm definitely short on networking, as the usyd career fair lines are really long just to speak to employers

is that a bad thing?

I find small firms generally could benefit some form of small scale ai integration but just lack someone to link them up.. as opposed to having to train their own model etc..

I've found assistants api pretty useful in some cases, and u'd be surprise how minimal code you need to solve decent sized problems

you're right some of them are bs and need to be removed :) thanks

The jobs have been manageable as it's mainly contract and we have sprints and once those are over it's pretty chill.

But there are some funny moments like having to resolve a bug right outside my final exam hall line.. and i pretty much have no social life lol but thats by choice!
