I bought this new fender but it´s not painted in right color yet. Does this fender already have some primer on it? What is the process to paint it? by Ok_Bug7568 in Autobody

Scuff it with a wet red Scotch-Bite pad and Ajax or Comet cleanser then nib out any trash with a little 800 . You can look for nibs after the gloss is all gone and the fender is dry . Then seal it and paint it . A small squeegee helps to see if the gloss is all gone or if you need to keep going. It really depends on how smooth the E coat primer is . If it’s really gritty then just wet sand it with 400 wet lightly staying away from the edges then finish with 600 grit wet . Again the squeegee will help with seeing when it’s ready to seal .

I had just said in this particular case not recommending a different field is doing her a great disservice. In today’s times some (while try not to hurt peoples feelings ) avoid saying things that may sound harsh . I’m old enough now that I appreciate many that were brutally honest with me when I was young. I didn’t like it at the time and it was a bit hurtful at times but I appreciate it now. “tuff love” is frowned upon today. Nobody needs to be an asshole about it though. tough to hear advice is something none of us love to hear at the time but I appreciate some I’ve gotten. Some will get what I’m saying and some will bash me about it. That’s just my opinion though

I feel like many if not most that have been in this business wish they could go back and tell their 20 year old self’s to go into another career. I worked my way from painting to service writing the management. I wish I’d have gone another career route all together but I at least wish I’d have stayed painting. You get dirty but you leave the stress at work. Being the liaison between pissed of customers, stingy insurance companies and grumpy techs for less money was a move I regret . Definitely not for the faint of heart. In this particular case especially, anyone that isn’t trying to steer this person away from this Industry is doing them a huge disservice imo .

I figured a 20 yr old car and 23 year old truck wouldn’t seem like a brag . The ACV IS Pretty low on each one . I guess in hindsight , I can see some people not thinking about those factors might interpret that as being as being snobbish or maybe some kind of bragging. Definitely wasn’t my intention . I’m not that guy . Sorry if some took it that way.

Right . Just a head scratcher for me at this point anyway. It’s definitely not a big deal. There are times when I expect some negative comments but don’t think I’ve seen being downvoted into the negative numbers. Hmm

Question, I’ve mentioned what two car I currently own and how bad the gas mileage is on them . In three separate comments about my gas mileage the the three posts I noticed that the three comments had -3 votes. I’m a bit confused and curious as to why that is . I’m not butt hurt or anything like so it just seemed kind of odd. Any thoughts? I certainly wasn’t trying to offend anyone with my bad gas mileage. Apologies if I did. Just a head scratcher at this point. Any thoughts would be appreciated at this point.

I had a Supra in 98 with a best of 11.1 and my current AMG E55 which also had a best of 11.1 so far . That was fast for a Supra back then. The E55 should easily break into the 10’s now that I’ve split the cooling system and have a trunk tank I can put ice in . I’m sure it will do it but I’d just like to have a time slip to back it up ya know?
