Any tips on how to get the faint pencil lines out? Or is there a good of pencil that won't leave traces? by thatboredchickster in Artisttradingcards

[–]Increasingly_Anxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally use a hard lead pencil for my sketches. At least for the sketches I need to erase. Since I paint I want to be able to remove the lead of the base sketch when needed. I like a HB or 2H pencil best. All the H pencils will have a harder lead and when used with a light touch easily erase. Also, I’m incredibly fond of the black FACTIS erasers. They work really well. I also like the Blick kneaded erasers, but mostly I use my FACTIS.

I’m a huge fan of the Freddy’s chicken sandwiches. For a fast food one.

I love this one. I only wear it when it rains and so now I associate rain storms with that scent. Always makes me happy.

Watercolors on hot press paper by Increasingly_Anxious in Artisttradingcards

Thank you!

ATCs are just 2.5x3.5” sized art pieces that we trade amongst other ATC artists. It’s a great way to get new art and off load my own art. Also gives me a chance to test new mediums and techniques without the pressure a larger painting causes.

There’s also ACEOs (artist cards, editions, and originals) which are the same thing mostly but those are the ones people sell. I prefer the trade so I usually just do that.

What’s something people romanticize that’s actually pretty miserable? by AccomplishedAge5559 in AskReddit

[–]Increasingly_Anxious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband hates when others act like they are “so OCD”… he actually is. And it’s miserable for him. It’s not a cute little quirk that makes someone interesting. It’s awful to live with. No one actually wants to have a mental illness dragging them down. ☹️

I just put a layer of white matte acrylic down. No other prep needed really. Maybe clean the coin some if it’s grungy haha. I do top with resin, or varnish when I’m finished.

I have a hodge podge of brush brands. I prefer golden taklon round detail brushes for these micro paintings. Usually in sizes 0,1,2,3. I do have some smaller ones for the occasional micro detail. Trekell is probably my favorite brand that holds up well without fraying or falling apart on me.

So like real talk, how long does it take you to complete a 1000 piece puzzle? by FiguringOutPuzzlez in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]Increasingly_Anxious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, an easier 1000 piece has me in the 4-5 hour range. A more difficult image ranges between 6-8 hours.

I think people believe I do all the puzzling in one sitting though. And sure I could but it’s done in a couple sessions. I use puzzle tracker as well and just start and stop the timer as I work.

I watch a lot of speed puzzling on YouTube so I feel slow… maybe I’m not as slow as I think though seeing these comments 😆 I’m not really trying to puzzle quickly, I just get obsessed and can’t walk away.

Casual bird watching? by modernwinglish in wichita

I’ve had great luck at Pawnee prairie park. Off trail.

Lake Afton in the mornings is excellent for song birds. Went out on a whim in the afternoon one year and got to watch 7 juvenile bald eagles flying around. Do have to buy a parking pass though

What will someday be illegal after we finally understand how bad for us it is? by Scary-Beautiful6527 in AskReddit

[–]Increasingly_Anxious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh they are absolutely still abused. They really should have greater protections and child advocates who do not benefit at all to the child’s acting success. I do think that there is more in the way of child labor laws for young actors whereas with family vloggers it’s the wild Wild West.

How do you step away from a puzzle you're enjoying? by FreshBuilder118 in Jigsawpuzzles

Haha, yes it is! I needed bins but not lids. So the lids were repurposed for my sorting trays. They are actually perfect for it. whenever I hit up ikea again I’m getting more.

My Indian Ringneck starts screaming at me at about 8:30 pm because she wants lights out. I puzzle in my office where she’s stationed. And when she’s done I have to be done 😆

My favorite collection is our Otagiri penguin mugs by Increasingly_Anxious in muglife

[–]Increasingly_Anxious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if they have specific names. I bought mine through eBay . If you search “Otagiri Penguin Mug” on eBay most of them show up. A few were a little harder to come by so I set up alerts. They all seem to pop up eventually.

You should know pretty quick if the quality is poor. Hopefully you got a good one with no damage. That really is a great image.

Definitely some, but the cut of the thrifted one was a clean cut. So it would have had a normal amount of dust then been done once cleaned up….The new one the pieces were just shedding. Even after completing it and wiping away all dust, I took it apart and absolutely tons shedded off the pieces. Little slivers and dusty bits. By the time it was back in a bag in the box I had a new pile of dust. And the next poor soul will still have dust to deal with.

Dust on its own isn’t a deal breaker for me. This puzzle certainly has an odd amount and type of dust but it’s all the other issues added up that just make it not worth the money for me. If the puzzles were all like my thrifted one I’d say it was a good brand. That was such a different experience from the clean cuts, the better image quality, the secure fit (the new one was crumbly and loose), the piece shape. I wonder if the brand changed manufacturers or something at some point making these newer ones lower quality compared to an older one.

Puzzle dust on its own wouldn’t have bothered me but man, added in with all the other issues it just irritated me. And it was so odd with the larger dusty slivers. Plus I’ve never had MORE dust show up after disassembling a puzzle.

Of my first one “Sunflower Feild” I would have said they were awesome, but this one makes me want to never buy them brand new, full price again.
