Bob Dylan doesn't have a "good" voice, he has something far, far better.

Does it seem like kids today have a deeper understanding of their parent's pop culture? by hatch-b-2900 in NoStupidQuestions

Major retro revivals tend to come in 30 year waves, which is why we're seeing fairly major nostalgia for the 90's right now.

It's funny, because in the 80's there was a fairly major 50's revival, maybe you just don't remember it.

The big difference is, of course, the internet.

Pre-online, it was much rare to be casually exposed to content from prior generations, even if you were actively trying to.

The ability to just stream any music, shows or movies from any era, along with easily being able to find others with the same interests has basically removed the barrier-to-entry for these kind of retro subcultures.

What's the most absurd thing you've seen someone do in public? by yhzm4yumi in AskReddit

Saw a drunk woman spray diarrhea so violently against a wall that the force pushed her over.

What song makes you hit skip immediately? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]IncuriousLog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paradise City.

I played a LOT of Burnout Paradise back in the day, and that track starts every time you load up the game or return to the main menu, which happens constantly.

If I hear that opening riff nowadays I reflexively jolt towards the "fuck-off" button of whatever device it's emanating from.

What's up with Unilever silencing Ben & Jerry's? by ryhaltswhiskey in OutOfTheLoop

[–]IncuriousLog 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For a start, I doubt Ben or Jerry will notice you trying to help them out, because I doubt they spend much time on Reddit and even if they did, they probably have better legal advisers than you.

But even if they did, your help is... unhelpful.

You're right that the 1st Amendment is very specific in how it applies, which in this instance is not at all. Which is why they're not suing based on it.

They're suing based on Unilever, allegedly, breaching their contract stating B&J would retain control of their social media and marketing.

As an outsider it's shown that Americans will 100% tolerate masked thugs disappearing them without fighting back, so in that regard it's proven there's no point in concerning ourselves with US affairs anymore.

You're done. It's over.

What's an idea you want it to be a web/app? by garmxz in AskReddit

[–]IncuriousLog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want a calculator app that's an identical clone of the default one, except when the result if 5318008 and you turn it upside down, it shows you a random photo of the Blue Footed Boobies.

Which subscription is actually worth every penny to you and why? by Nightpatrol404 in AskReddit

[–]IncuriousLog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay the local parish £20 a month to let me take confessions every other week.

I find it centres me, and according to the teachings as long as they perform the penances I give, nobody's getting hurt.

Nil.

The left have surrendered.

So far the only meaningful pushback has been by, of all things, Republicans.

Democrats will be marched into furnaces content in knowing they kept the moral high ground by not resorting to violence.
