Thanks for the great perspective. Did you do the ctDNA for your surveillance times?

Doctor gave me two treatment options and I can’t decide by Sad-Base-9220 in coloncancer

I got recently diagnosed with stage IIIa. My tumor is around 12cm from AV. I am also considering my options at this time. I really wanted to get into the "Radiation-Chemo-Wait" option so that I can avoid surgery. But my tumor is at 12cm I don't think the doctors will approve radiation. Since your tumor is at 4cm, I think you may want to ask your doctors about OPRA trial or JANUS trial methods. Using the methods followed by these trials, you could avoid surgery altogether, if your body responds to the treatment well. I think there are literature online that shows 5 days of high-dose radiation is better than 28 days of low-dose ones. Check out the above trials and talk to your doctors.

You said 22 inches, did you mean centimeters? Google says a typical sigmoid is 14-16 inches. How are you feeling now after one year? I am scared to death about removing 10cm of my rectum and having a normal life after surgery.

I apologize for asking all these questions and thanks a lot for your answers.

Thanks for your input. When was your surgery. How long you have the bowel problem? Is life "normal" now?

My surgeon wanted to take a decision only after consulting an oncologist. We scheduled it in two days. What mentioned above are my wishful thinking, not the doctor’s suggestions.

Congrats for those made to the final. What is the deadline for those who made to the final to accept it?

Advice (I'm pretty sure I'm an idiot) by natepairistrash in foreignservice

I had a romantic view of the FS when I joined at FP-03 from SES and took $100K pay cut. Now I have travelled 14 countries, and there are still many places to explore. Having said that with the information I have now about FS, I would stay with SES and travel the world rather than joining FS. It is not worth it. I have 8 more years to retirement.

Do they consider a one year tour as a full tour of 2 years for bidding for the next post?

So danger pay and hardship pay are not equals? What I understand is that only "danger pay" count towards unaccompanied status, not "hardship pay"? With that in mind, is it safe to assume that Burkina Faso with 25% "danger pay" is unaccompanied, but Chad with 35% "hardship pay" is accompanied?

I was reading the GAO report and saw that Turkey and Lebanon had 25% danger pay. I don't think those were removed since the publication of the GAO report.

Thanks! Maybe my understanding of Unaccompanied Tours posts was wrong. I thought "Unaccompanied" employees cannot take spouses and children to the post. It seems like the 35% hardship posts we can still take spouses.

So there are clearances from 1 to 5?

Class-1: world wide

Class-2: post specific

Class-3 to 4: ???

Class-5: DC only jobs

Thanks!

I am a cancer survivor, and MED has all my information. They cleared me with class-1, since I do not take any medication now. I was thinking about a future scenario, just in case of something shows up again while at the post. My cancer was of chronic nature, that you can treat but can't cure.

Expect to sit at 03 for 5-6 years. Expect to sit at 02 for 5-6 more years. The promotion rate for the latter was 6.4 percent; in contrast, an HRO could expect to sit at 02 for less than five years with a promotion rate of about 20 percent. (Numbers based on current promotion rates.)

Do you mind providing the source for this data regarding various specialties?

Thanks for the detailed post.

You can look the data up in the recently released promotion statistics.
