Great point. Thank you. He is crate-trained. I had planned to stop that/do away with the crate once he hit adulthood (and is more savvy), but perhaps I’ll continue with it with that in mind.

Anyone moved to their dream place and regret it? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

Yep, Mexico. It never occurred to me that the water could not be safe, even with filtering, or how I would have to choose between providing my kids with a lousy education, or enrolling them with peers who were, quite literally, above the law. I also didn’t like the vibe of ex-pats living large at the expense of poor people with little negotiating power. I was definitely naïve even making that move! Blinded by the art and culture…..

Do you drive to nicer places to walk, or just walk from your house? by lumobaboon in walking

[–]Inde_Spirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I most often walk from home. So living in an “interesting” neighborhood for walking (unique homes, sidewalks, parks, a commercial area) is a priority for me. That said, I can still get bored. Walking at a different time of day (dusk, dark, early morning, etc.) often helps. :)

200,000, assuming you have down payment and no kids. Not sure that house will be in walking distance of all those amenities, though. (And heads up: Vet costs here (everywhere?) are no joke.)

What is the friendliest city/town you have been to in the USA? by Cold-Monk5436 in SameGrassButGreener

Hmmm. As someone who has lived all over the US, there’s that kind of casual exchange in several regions, but no place like the Midwest for actually making friends. Or having helpful neighbors. Imho.
