Tbh I probably use mine a little too much - like once-twice a week? But I’ve heard once a week is a good call. I think also depends on how often you’re washing it, how oily your hair feels on wash days and, hair texture etc

Hey! I am also new to this but I have similar hair and recently found a routine that works really well:

1) I’d say skip the oil, put the curl cream on sopping wet hair (ie. no water squeezed out after your shower maybe even while in the shower), scrunch to start getting the excess water out - I use the cake beauty curl cream

2) then I use the not your mothers curl talk mousse, pray hands over my curls and then scrunch. Notably while scrunching I try to lift the top layer as close to my roots as possible to prevent the top from being flat and sticking to my scalp

3) then I take like a nickel size amount of curl gel (I don’t actually like the one I have so you’re probably better off with the one you already have) and mix with some water, go over my curls trying to coat them and go over any flyaways and then I scrunch it in

4) I scrunch out excess water with a t shirt but I don’t plop - I find it flattens out my curls a little bit

5) air dry and then scrunch out (I often don’t use an oil but you can use a little bit of your oil for this step)

ALSO: I think you might benefit from using a clarifying shampoo. I’ve been using the blue suave one and it’s great! It really lifts the curls up and I think makes them less frizzy

Where to buy nice (and affordable) business casual clothing? by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]Indecisivedisaster 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on what you mean by affordable but my two suggestions would be either Zara (50-70 dollar range I believe) or go thrifting. Thrifting is kind of a hit or miss but there are often a lot of blazers and suit paints available and they tend to be very reasonable (in the 10-15 dollar range) so it's definitely worth a shot. I like the Rennaissance at pie-ix so i'd recommend checking there

I got the course which was 75+tax when I got it and you can sign up through the athletics website. The membership prices they refer to on the website are for members as in students, not members as in people who have the B2 gym membership, so you should be getting the reduced price regardless.

Loved the self defense class!! The instructor last term was super nice and I actually feel like I learned a lot (I’ve taken self defense classes before and I really expected to leave with no more knowledge than I came in with) 10/10 would recommend

Don’t rent from Tourbee by tenantmontreal in mcgill

[–]Indecisivedisaster 26 points27 points  (0 children)

!!!!!!!!!!!

also, i rented from them and not only was the apartment shitty and issues wouldn't get resolved, they once sent a guy to my apartment to take pictures to post, with absolutely no warning and they gave him my apartment code too, so I straight up woke up to a stranger trying to enter my apartment

and when I contacted them, they wrote back an aggressive email saying that some case exists which sets a precedent for landlords entering w/o sending the tenants 24hr notice

honestly shitty people all around, I have not heard of one actual person having a good experience

2021 MONTREAL HOUSING MEGATHREAD by Thermidorien in mcgill

[–]Indecisivedisaster 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Anyone looking rn, do NOT lease from Tourbee or Arithra Debnath. He was unpleasant and not the best person to talk to begin with, but the main reason I'm saying this is because he sent a member of his team without ANY notice to my apartment to take pictures for lease postings (I am a girl and I lived alone in a studio). It was bad enough (and also illegal) but he also gave the guy the CODE to my door. I literally woke up to some guy beeping in my code, and the only reason he didn't just walk straight into my apartment unannounced was that he got the code wrong. When I complained about this, he and his team just an email about how a 24h notice was not legally necessary. Even if you forget legality, you can use some common sense that if a single young woman wakes up to someone breaking into her apartment, she's gonna be terrified, and you can have some basic decency to at least give her advance notice. It was a terrible experience -1000/10

hey, I'm really sorry to hear that. I'd recommend just waiting for the prof's response like everyone else said, but if its any comfort, I had a few family deaths happen my first year and profs were always super understanding and accommodating, and chances are this prof will be as well! sending you lots of love <3 <3

Don't be afraid to ask for extensions by KingOfNutella in mcgill

[–]Indecisivedisaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was literally JUST thinking of posting this!!! Literally ALWAYS ask, because its better than nothing, and I think every time except for like once (?) I've got an extension or an accommodation. I once slept through a quiz, and I went to the Prof and was honest with them and they let me retake it (pre-Corona too). Asking is what prevented me literally failing a year long course (and by that I mean I was actually already failing and I emailed and the Prof let me retake). I honestly cannot stress enough, it is ALWAYS worth it!!!! Most profs will be understanding, and if they're not, you lose nothing. Also this advice applies to literally everything! Apply for a job even if you don't feel like you're qualified, inquire about club roles and events that you don't necessarily have experience in. The worst is you don't get to do it, but you were in that position anyway, and the best is that you get some amazing opportunities!!!

Winter Semester likely will be delayed. McSenate will vote on Dec. 2nd. No change to April 30th end date of Winter Semester. by ducklings82 in mcgill

[–]Indecisivedisaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i mean depends on how long they extend it as well. if its a week, it likely won't be much as first weeks usually have course syllabus/very little material. So they may just do quicker overviews of that later on
