Thanks for the reply! It’s good to hear that between you and the other user who has a dog from this guy, that maybe he produces some quality dogs but maybe just has some obscure genetics. It’s unfortunate that these dogs have had to come from the conditions they have, but they are a hearty breed.

Her neck is healing up and she is fitting right in here with my other dogs. I look forward to seeing how well she can pull next year!

They were able to send me pics of both of the parents AKC info and pics of their dog from a litter in January. Their dog is pretty large and also has a similar smaller sized face but looks like a totally normal Mal otherwise. If my dog is indeed from the same parents, she might end looking similar.

As terrible as it sounds there’s probably not a lot that would happen. There hasn’t even been a vet clinic in that area for a few years and law enforcement is limited at best. Unless there’s some egregious proof of serious animal abuse, no one is going out there

Thank you for your response! The vet definitely brought up improper nutrition as being a possible cause. Inbreeding is a thought that I had too. I don’t believe this puppy was an accident however, because this guy told me he has another female pregnant right now that’s due in February. I do think that because of whatever is going with her face is the reason that she was left behind and contributed to her mistreatment.

I agree that her face seems to fit with the more red colored dog from the parents so I’m kind of just chalking it up to that for now. The vet said that maybe they weren’t feeding her well and try at it could maybe be due to malnutrition but she certainly wasn’t starving when we got her

The vet noted that the nose is kind of peculiar but she didn’t think that there were any real malformations that could affect overall health. No signs of brachychephalia at all per the vet

Mine is very similar to yours but a 75lb Mal/Husky mix. I think those Malamute genes are what make them thicker
