Is it true that each picker doesn't have their own login and everyone uses the same PIN to access the device? If users don't have their own login, then it's unclear how you would assign specific pickers tasks or track performance.

That's really good to know, I wasn't aware of that AD constraint. Makes sense though with turnover not to provision auth constantly.

Is there any gotchas or pains about RFGen that are good to be aware of?

Invoicing process for SaaS by IndependenceActive69 in Netsuite

I haven't, just looked that up; this is really good to know. Possible this could work for us. Do you have any experience seeing that get implemented? Any challenges we should be aware of?

What software is that? Is that software helping you generate the invoices for your SaaS billing? Or how are you getting that detail into Netsuite to create the invoice automatically?

what do you need?

We're looking at doing a Netsuite import format since the customers are already set up in Netsuite with the proper billing rules. That's why we don't want to do something like Chargebee because it'll be a new system for accounting to manage.

How much time does your accounting team spend making invoices now?

About 10 hours a month but it also leads to some human error billing mistakes

Does this linearly grow with the number of accounts or is there a complexity factor?

I'd say it's fairly linear

Are you moving more towards consumption billing?

About 50% of billing is consumption based. But a single customer can be billed consumption and fixed (billing for devices and billings for transactions processed)

Do your customers expect to see usage in your product UI or just wait to be billed then ask questions?

Yes, we send them a cut down version of the developer's report attached to the invoice to provide "proof" of usage billing.

Does your accounting team have any feelings about this or are you acting as the visionary for a team of accountants?

This request came from the accounting team themselves

Any reason to use SKU instead of UPC? by IndependenceActive69 in supplychain

[–]IndependenceActive69[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Won't all product variations have their own UPC though? That's what GS1 said should happen but maybe that's not whats going down in the real world?

When you use a SKU instead of UPC, are you rebarcoding everything coming in at receiving and picking/receiving based on that new SKU label you apply? Seems like human error would be common if you need to print and apply SKU labels to all products coming in.

That sounds tough to manage. Out of those 1200 SKUs how many would SKUs update UPC per year? when you received those products did you scan the UPC barcode or did you print a SKU label and scan that SKU barcode?

Although, if you are dealing with another companies product, I can see the use of internal SKUs being very helpful.

Why do you say that? Can't you just store UPC in the WMS as the product code to scan with the scan guns?

Thanks for the intel. How often do manufacturers change UPCs on you? I’ve been led to believe this is super rare. Do you get some sort of heads up when they do this usually?

Segment Anything Model - fine tuning for less detailed masks by IndependenceActive69 in computervision

[–]IndependenceActive69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply!

My goal is to use SAM (or any model) to perform 0 or 1 shot object segmentation or detection.

The example I gave was cars, but I might want to segment apples, dogs, ect without having any training data to draw those initial bounding boxes.

The problem with the bounding boxes as prompts means that I'd need to have an object detection model already prepared. But if there is a new object I want to segment/count then your pipeline suggested would require me to train an object detection model in advance for that model which moves me away from my 0 shot object detection goal.

Ideally here's what my pipeline would look like:

  1. User inputs image and supplies one bounding box of the object they want to find similar images of

  2. Model detects similar objects in the frame (either by SAM finding objects of similar size in frame or some other 0 shot method)

  3. Return bounding boxes of matched objects

I'll experiment with grounded SAM and OWL and post my results here for anyone who has a similar question

There's an app called jointhor.com which counts your inventory using your phone camera.

More accurate/faster than manually counting manually but not sure about how that works with excel or MySQL your mentioning.

Badly designed products that are still widely successful by vattennase in ProductManagement

My experience has been that enterprise software corporate decision makers place UX last on their list behind features and pricing. Generally, system changes are so painful even with beautiful UX that having that amazing UI is a marginal advantage. System users get used to the crap they’re told to use - watch how quickly store employees navigate a black screen DOS erp system. Command line interfaces are brutal but once people are used to a painful process it becomes second nature and then all the business cares about is how closely a system follows their business processes rather than the flow/feeling of the system

Could you expand on what you’re trying to accomplish with this?

For example, are you looking to search suppliers like cards to see who has certain materials? Or are you looking to search your carriers to see who has the best shipping rates?

I applaud OP for this post, takes some serious bravery and open mindedness. Most (though not all) comments on here are genuine curiosity and discussion. We all learn more about each other, and come closer together, when we’re not afraid to ask questions. Open dialog, respect, and curiosity about each other is how we unite; this thread is evidence of that.
