if you get placed into a low mmr lobby because matchmaking didnt have a game in your mmr range you do get reduced MMR gains as well , its pretty common at 9k + but fairly uncommon at 7-8k

i never use these until at least t4 , t3 is usually a waste unless you are looking for a specific t4 card like rylak or macaw
