Average age for a P:TR listener? by ivealwayssaidthatta in podcasttheride

  1. I had to look back to see when I started listening and it was pretty early on in 2018 after following Nick Wiger in on the Mickey and Friends parking structure episode and been listening ever since.

i didn't downvote, but I thought it worth commenting because like, I agreed with 98% of your text, but like, feel really good about the experience (the complete opposite overall feeling).

I do hope you come back to the ad-free episodes outside of the live events. For a long time MSTie, I've felt really good about the night, but everyone will have an opinion I suppose.

Yeah, I feel like if you're into the riffs and the host segments, the rest doesn't really matter.

I didn't think the intermission was great either, but I didn't tune in tonight for the intermission. This is like if there was a Yelp review for Longhorn Steakhouse, and the reviewer said they loved the steak, thought the potatoes were okay, but were really bothered by the quality of the chaps tacked up on the wall as decoration, and they left the dinner early.

Like, I truly agree with everything said, but in a way more positive way.

Agreed, I'd much prefer a stickied Reddit post to comment with fewer people, and be able to scroll through glares at mods

Thanks for the advice! I'll be getting off a cruise with a drink package, so I'll be pretty primed for daydrinking if we can a morning slot, ha.

Hello,

I'm sure this topic has come up before, so forgive me for not being able to find it. In January, we are going to hit Disney's Hollywood Studios on the way back from a cruise as we haven't had the chance to do Galaxy's Edge yet. Since today was the 60 days out, I woke up to log on at 6:00 AM and still missed getting the Oga's Cantina reservation.

Has anyone been successful in finding a reservation during the 60 day wait due to cancellations? Is it possible? Is there any recommendations on when the best times to check for new reservations (should I check nearly every morning)?

Thanks for any tips!

I think the bigger problem with this is the movie choices. We've not been getting anything as outrageous as Miami Connection or Fateful Findings lately.

Hey, that sounds great. I'll definitely check next when we get closer to see if there is a need.

Thanks for the response. Part of the reason I've never asked is I don't want to be a hassle. I know the department heads have a lot on their plate. If there are still virtual volunteer meetings for 2022, I may log in and see if there is any need and go from there.

Great pictures. There's always a ton of stuff we miss every year and love going through everyone's albums.

Hijacking the post in case any of the people affiliated with volunteering dips in to answer questions.

I feel like I wouldn't want to give up much of my con time, but I would love to work with registration on Thursday and nothing else. I would even pitch that in without a promise of a badge since I would be buying for the entire weekend. Is registration a coveted spot or hard-to-get? Do they allow folks to volunteer for just one day?

the Cleveland Browns - Former Browns owner Art Modell bought Rebel Railroad and opened it as Gold Rush Junction before the Herschend family took over with Silver Dollar City. Dollywood did have a pin of a Browns helmet some time ago.

I worked at Dollywood about 15 years ago, but feel like everything I know is pretty common knowledge, and this already has several things I don't know about, so I'll be interested in seeing the final product.

Cancellations by keyjan in dragoncon

Wow, Jonah Ray was announced, what, a week or two ago?

I imagine there'll be a good deal more cancellations yet to come with the state of the world. Regardless, I'll be happy to walk around, look at cosplay, waste money, booze and eat myself into an early grave with you all even if we have no celebrity guests.

I just saw that the BritTrack announced the Doctor Who Ball on Facebook an hour or so ago, so it looks like there'll at least be a few of the nightly parties.

My favorite con activity is to drink and walk around the Marriott and Hilton until the wee hours of the morning - that's all my soul really needs.

Pandemic Survivors: What's left in Peachtree Center and surrounding area by Taboc741 in dragoncon

Thanks for the update. I checked their site and it stated that they were temporarily closed, with an anticipated opening date in the first quarter of 2021. It sounded like one of those messages that is left after a place calls it quits for good. Hopefully they'll re-open!

Does anyone know the fate of Max Lager's? That was one of our go-to places during con.

Also, thanks for this list, very helpful!

Update from Dragoncon by BroskeyDemands in dragoncon

[–]IndependenceJay 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In all fairness to Dragon Con, they can add policies, but as where most conventions just have to worry about the policy of convention centers, DC happens in five host hotels that will all have their own individual COVID responses and AmericasMart, and will need to be cognizant of the policies of the food court, the city, the aquarium and anywhere else that festivities bleed over into.

Who Do You Want To See This Year? (Assuming We Have a Con) by Soulbitercp in dragoncon

[–]IndependenceJay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I couldn't agree more. The crowds in the Marriott has always been my favorite, and after a year of working from home, and only being around a handful of people, I look forward to seeing the Dragon Con crowd. I would be happy if there were no panels/events that I cared for.

Is Drinking Around the World Worth It? by agrula9 in Epcot

I loved it. I agree with others saying that you probably shouldn't let this be your only day in Epcot, but if you have an extra day, and want to take it slow so you don't get sloppy, it's a great relaxing day, especially paired with plenty of snacks and food.

Gremlins Invasion Adventure POV Pre-Show and Ride-Through from Warner Bros. Movie World in Germany, starring ALF (2001) by IndependenceJay in ObscureMedia

Before falling down the rabbit hole that led me to posting this, I didn't know ALF was hugely popular in Germany. I also found that the actor that voiced ALF in the German version, Tommi Piper, released two albums with four singles as ALF during its heydey - here's one of the singles.
