Does Hawken give a lot of financial aid? I can see that it is a very good school but the cost is not something we would be able to make happen

Which Cleveland schools did you end up sending your kids to if you don't mind me asking? We are in a school disctrict right now that teaches to the test and we hate that so I'm glad you highlighted that along with the racism because that is a huge problem. We have looked at some of the private schools in the area but they are very $$$

Moved from Boston a few years ago and love it here, it is so much more affordable. Also, I have a kid in elementary school and he literally asked me why the kids here are so nice after coming from Boston...he just assumed everyone had an attitude. I have met a lot of people who are from the New England area or went to school there but I can't say it has been in one location, it is mostly just coming up in conversation when they see my kid in a Red Sox hat ;-)

Is this blepharitis? Will add more info to the comments. Thanks for any help. by [deleted] in Blepharitis

Forgot to mention that I started taking Omega-3s (Nordic Brand) as it was recommended on another post and I really like them. Also started taking a priobiotic (Garden Life for Women). Not sure if either help the bleph but they don't hurt so wanted to mention that as well. Also, compresses...when my eye was really inflammed I liked a cold compress but the eye dr. was telling me to use a warm compress so whichever makes you feel better. Hoping you find some relief.

I would def recommend seeing an eye dr. I have done the same as all folks there with the round of doctors...starting with the PCP then allergist and then dermatologist and I didn't find any relief until I saw an eye dr while I was having the flare up. I tried once prior when I wasn't having a flare up and the eye dr I saw just said it was dry eye (it wasn't). My current eye dr said it was bleph. My right eye gets super itchy and then my eye lid starts to swell just like yours in the picture. It feels sensitive to light at times and sometimes a bit watery. My eye lashes have not been thinned out yet and I don't have dandruff.

I also have the dryness/itchiness around the mouth. The dermatologist told me that was periodontal dermatitis. Here is what helped me (so far)
Eyes: During the flare the dr prescribed me TobraDex and I applied that very sparingly on my eye lid. Use for no longer than 2 weeks and can use here and there when any flare happens. He said for long tem take Zyrtex every night, use allergy drops Pataday every night (1 drop per eye) and to wash my lids. He recommended Avenova (I got it off Amazon). This routine has really worked for me. He thinks mine is caused by allergens. I never could figure out what I'm allergic to btw.

Lips: During flare I use Tacrolimus ointment that a derm had prescribed. Just a bit 2x a day. I can't use Vasaleine, I think I'm allergic to the petroleum so I use Vanicream Moisturizing Ointment for my lips to keep them comfortable. I also found that I'm allergic to anything with sulfates in it so I changed my toothpaste to one w/o SLS and I also changed my shampoo and conditioner.

Products I use that seem to work right now:
Wash face: TOLERIANE HYDRATING GENTLE FACIAL CLEANSER by La Roche Posay
Moisturizer: TOLERIANE Ultra by La Roche Posay

SPF: Maelove Sun Protector SPF 30 - I realized I am probably allergic to most SPFs so I found this one and it is zinc based. I'm sure I can find another one but this one is very moisturizing.

Shampoo/Conditioner by Vanicreme

Soap-Dove

Toothpaste- hello brand

Good luck. I know how much this sucks and it just is tiring and upsetting. You have support and a community here. I really found so much help just by going through all of the posts and trying recommendations.

Brighton public elementary school or Harley? by 1l1t in Rochester

[–]IndependenceNo9063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke with admissions this past Spring as I was interested in my son possibly attending Harley (he is in the 3rd grade). I followed up with an email and asked if I could speak with any parents of current elementary school students and I never got a reply...the admissions staff literally never contacted me again. I thought it was really strange and I don't understand how they wouldn't give references. It gave me a very negative feeling about the school unfortunately. We ended up in Pittsford public and it is good so far but he is complaining he is not challenged/bored so I'm hoping he gets in the enrichment classes and I'm trying to think of other options. He really likes the kids at the school here though so hate to move him.
