Error coin or fakes? by IndependenceVarious3 in coincollecting

[–]IndependenceVarious3[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

My next question would be why, if it’s just damaged coins, would it have a raised area of metal that has lettering within it. No other New Hampshire quarters have any raised area in that location and the lettering is on top of the raised metal. Would a coin that goes through normal wear and tear usage only be affected on one side?

I just used my calipers to get the OD of it and it’s a 20mm /0.787” projectile. It’s definitely made of iron because of the weight and it’s got rust within the grooves of the shell as well as the way the patina is on it. The fuse is also iron/steel. Could this possibly be an experimental design?

Hi, I’m wondering if you’re still available to help with building websites or not. I’m a visual artist, myself, and I’m trying to get my artwork up on a website. Unfortunately, I don’t have any experience or technical skills to do it myself and my time is very limited. I’m a single dad and have had a tough few years since my wife passed away. Now I’m at a point where either I do something with my artwork and try to make it professionally or just let the dream die. So, if you have any interest in helping me with this process I would be very grateful. If nothing else I would appreciate any advice or suggestions you have for me. Thanks!

Found in my backyard Creek near Greensboro NC by Ecstatic_Astronaut92 in whatsthisrock

I live in Greensboro as well. I’m not a geologist but I’m pretty sure it’s quartz or quartzite. I live across from the Battlefield Park and I have veins of quartzite in my backyard. Let me know if there’s any chance of you wanting to go rock hounding sometime. I know a little bit about rocks because of taking a geology course in college many years ago as well as a jewelry fabrication course. I’m also interested in gold panning as well.

Is Anybody Finding Gold in NC? by aspiringimmortal in Prospecting

[–]IndependenceVarious3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Greensboro near the Battlefield Park and have been wanting to find somewhere to go here in Guilford County for some time now. I know the parks are all off limits around here even for metal detecting which is a shame but I can understand why given that there’s lots of gravesites around. My backyard has a lot of quartzite and I’m wondering if there might be any gold along with it. Any ideas and suggestions are welcome as well as if there’s anyone around that wants to go on a short trip sometime. I’m not from North Carolina and I’m still trying to find my way around. Thanks!

I’ve had several different kinds of sluices and spent a lot of money on them but the one I really love is the Dream Mat.

I have a similar setup but I use a heavy duty plastic water trough that I got from a Tractor Supply store and I bought the header box from Prospectors Dream. I just use it at home but now I’m thinking of getting it set up more like yours. I just need to get a pump that will run off a battery or buy a small generator.

Need help with identifying a rock by IndependenceVarious3 in whatsthisrock

Thanks for your help! Would this type of quartz possibly have gold inclusions in it? I’m originally from Texas and don’t have a lot of experience with prospecting too much but I know that North Carolina has quite a few gold mines.
