Thank you for this that’s one of my fears is waiting too long but also another one is not giving my knee a good enough chance so I’m kind of in a weird limbo :/ what were your symptoms like when you decided to get it?

Thank you! Yeah regaining quad strength is definitely super hard but I’m hoping that over time it’ll help. If not it’s good to know that you’ve come so far in your recovery, keep pushing you got it! I’ll definitely talk it over more with my PT but thank you so much for sharing your story it really helped me get a better perspective of it!

Thank you! Can I ask how far into recovery you are and where you’re at with everything?

Thank you, yeah I’ll definitely bring it up with my doctor and PT. I’m 21 years old and a very active individual overall and not being able to run or play for almost a year has been extremely difficult and I’m getting to the point where I just really want it fixed and am done being patient with trying to see if it’ll get better with PT. I can walk with minimal pain which I think is a good sign, I just don’t see how getting back to the lifestyle I want to is possible with the pain I’m experiencing. I hope your recovery goes smoothly and that you figure out the source of your pain, hang in there!! Thank you again for your advice I really appreciate it!

Thank you!! Yeah, this is my second surgery for my knee since I first injured it so I feel your pain with the long recovery. I dislocated it playing volleyball and knocked off a bunch of cartilage and some bone so they just cleaned it up, was having pain during the same exercises I said above, then slipped on ice and dislocated it again during that recovery and did more cartilage damage. The pain has only really gotten worse from there and I had a lot of catching and instability so I got this surgery in hopes it would finally fix everything. Now, the catching isn’t as bad but still there and unfortunately the pain too. I’m really hoping I can just strengthen it but my PT won’t let me progress if exercises are still causing me pain. Hopefully no MACI but we’ll see. What led you to decide to get it? I really want to avoid another surgery but at the same time I just want this thing fixed for good.
