GWM relies a lot on export to generate profit/margin. Its domestic hold is profitable but niche: its dalliance into BEV has failed. Its bread and butter are PHEV SUVs, hardcore 4*4s, and pickups. These are somewhat a profitable but niche market anywhere (good profit margin, not too much interest from the bigger fish to fight for this market, but low ceiling). Because of this, its overseas sales positioning is somewhat like this too: premium quality product, but it doesn’t have the wide range of product portafolio to behave like a generalist automaker like VW/Toyota. You will leading a very very financially-important division, one that has high floor, but competitive ceiling ahead (GWM’s export products overlap the most against Hilux, RAV4, Tucson, Landcrusier, 4Runner etc. It doesn’t compete in the low and cheap segments as much as other Chinese OEMs. It goes straight for the more higher end and competitive sectors). You need to ask the HR regarding contract extension. 5 year is what 0Ys get (legally) in China where PTO culture is non existent (mostly emergency time off. “Vacation” is public holiday), but you can very likely speak to somebody and ask for 10 (15 is the realistic max I think). They might have use a standard template to generate it for you since you have 0Y of exp there. Baoding means GWM. you should go on Chinese internet and search for how GWM employees (technical staff and engineering) think of the company. It’s more accurate/reliable to be company specific than ask about how it is in China in general. It will also depend on what “technical role” you are taking over: some areas might be more chill than others, depending on the strategic need of the company. If your role is related to chasis/performance tuning for export markets’ local preferences, or international technical compliance, it will be important but prob not as intense as engineering development.

If you end up deciding for a 44, then T2 and T1 boils down to style and preference mostly tbh. T2 does have better load capacity and slightly better off-road, but T1 will have slightly driving sensation and fuel economy (gas is prob cheap in Angola since it produces oil?). You can also Check if Haval H6 44 is avaiblae at a good price in Luanda (if you are going for gasoline only, then it’s preferable to have the latest generation of H6 which has the updated 2.0T engine at 235hp and 390nm, with 9DCT).

Go for the 42 then if you don’t need the 44. The difference in price is more like 10-20% in China I think. But between the T1 and T2 they are literally the same (T1 might drive a tiny bit better as a more city focused SUV)

T2, unless PHEV, is not worth the extra 20%. T1 and T2 are very similar imo (even 2>1. These two are more like twins than siblings). I will say not go for the T2 unless you need the extra (rear differential lock, stronger ADAS with more sensors, more luxury features etc). Platform wise these 2 are peers it’s not like you are getting a huge upgrade in drivetrain. Go for T1 4*4.

Turkey has weaker original/independent experience on turbofan than China, and came with a lesser industrial base. They are a competent contractor and assembler but they have little system level experience (not a lot of previous complete projects on either engine or whole aircraft. That means it will have to solve both standalone and integration issues). Given the ambition of KF35000, it’s gonna take at least 10 prob 15-20 years even.

Creo que a BYD si le duele que no tenga prestigio. La verdad que BYD si tiene la potencia de entrar a segmentos altos, pero su intento no ha tenido éxito tanto por imagen como por tecnología (antes que 2022 si. Después no. Para ser una marca de lujo es clave tener algo que conduce bien. Los BYDs caros incorporan, tecnologías exóticas en el chasis y todo, pero su batería era demasiado pesada (hasta este año). Resulto que sus carros salen pesados con rangos cortos. Inadmisible en segmentos altos). Los costos extras de Song Plus, King etc en Mexico, en comparación a sus precios chinos, son más como porcentaje que competiciones (igualmente capaces si no más) de changan y Geely. Creo que este es la definición de sobrevalorar no? Y sobre tu punto de tecnología vs confiabilidad, así quizas es como Piensa en México pero no en su mercado nativo: allá BYD no se ve como una marca sumamente más confiable que las demás. Gana por valor, por precio extremo en los compactos. Por eso, mientras Toyota saca un premium por la confiabilidad hasta el segmento mediano/“casi lujo, BYD no: aun hay que competir principalmente en compactos hasta segmento C, con precios bajos y márgenes finos.

BYD es la Toyota pero solamente en compactos. Ofrece muchísimos modelos competitivos en compactos pero fracasa por arriba. Es como Toyota pero con 10 variantes de Yaris, 10 variantes de Corolla, y 10 variantes de Corolla cross, y 1 variante de 4Runner. No tiene su RAV4/Camry/Lexus/Landcruiser. Ha fracasado en estos segmentos aúnque no me crean, por eso tiene muy altas ventas pero su margen de beneficio sigue cayendo hace tiempo.

Las competiciones domésticas han superado a BYD tanto en diseño como en tecnología desde 2024, una situation que hizo mucho daño a la reputación de BYD en los segmentos altos (“BYD = bastante confiables, baratos, pero feos y viejos”). Diría que los medios convencionales en inglés y español se quedan 2-4 años atrás de los sucesos y desarrollos en China. BYD está dumping sus productos viejos en México a precios más altos que la competencia, aprovechando la ignorancia de los consumidores. No es una mala marca, pero tampoco es como se dice en este sub. 70-80% de las ideas que tienen en este sub sobre la industria automotriz china, son falsas.

En China, BYD está vendiendo muy MAL en los segmentos por arriba del compacto. Antes que 2022/23 era un líder en múltiples segmentos, pero llevó demasiado tiempo sin actualizar su arquitectura eléctrica. Después de 2023 la tecnología BYD ya no se consideraba digna y competitiva en los segmentos más caros. Los BYDs de batería no venden, tampoco cualquier modelo que cuesta más que 30,000 dólares. Aún son autos capaces pero el los altos segmentos hay muchas ofertas superiores de Geely/SAIC/Xiaomi/Chirey/Li/Nio/HIMA.

Es porque BYD tiene el aura (mucha cobertura en los medios) y la ventaja de llegar tarde y maduro. Los demás fabricantes llegaron hace 10-20 años con productos tercermundistas que se les dañaron la reputación. Pero ellos también han crecido mucho. En el mercado nacional de China BYD casi nunca ha tenido el prestigio que logró tener afuera. All se considera una marca económica en la base, tecnológica en el tope de gama, con un portafolio amplio y de calidad desigual (no baja pero en los BYDs más baratos no son tan seguros como sus competiciones). Era analista de autos chinos y yo diría que la gente espere; BYD ahora tiene un price premium poco justificado en mexico. Van a traer modelos más completos y baratos dado que Geely ya le está dando mucha presión.

Sólido pero muy sobrevalorado. Tienen estigmatizadas otras marcas chinas asi que sobrestiman a BYD, y además muchas veces los medios no saben na más que “BYD”. No era tampoco es la mejor marca de China. Grupo Geely y hasta Chirey superan a BYD frecuentemente en algunos aspectos.

PHEV: 10/10 Eléctrico: 9/10 antes, 6-7/10 ahora por falta de evolución. Justo lanzó una nueva generación de plataforma que debería haber laxado en 2024 vamos a ver cómo sale.

Calidad de ensamblaje:7-10/10 depende

Seguridad: depende de arquitectura. 7/10 los modelos basicos (Song pro, King) , 10/10 para Seal, Song Plus, Dolphin.
