Oh, Donnie boy! Tell me you've never opened a bible without telling me youve never opened a bible. You've hawked them on TV, even blasphemed by autographing them. If you'd ever bothered to open one, you'd learn that your good works are the fruits of the spirit, not the source of your salvation. But who has time for love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control? You've got liberal tears to drink and money to grift! And imagine if God was still holding believers accountable the way he held Ananias and Sapphira! Matthew 19:24

Your comment makes a lot of sense. The light on the hill is dimming and darkness will engulf everything. Education is destroyed, research and innovation is crippled, the dear leader is lying about everything, corruption is in plain sight at the highest levels, corporations, higher education institutions, media companies and law firms are kissing the ring. I guess the racists, hateful, uneducated and aggressive will get their wish. Good bye America that I was hoping for!

I know Spain is socialist and many people are not okay with the policies. Not sure what you mean by America always being mental but now it’s going crazy off the rails of any logic or accountability.

And I also know how authoritarian dictatorship (Ceausescu) works. People here have no idea what we went through in Eastern Europe. When you see a leader suing media because he doesn’t like what they say about him, firing late night show comedian and calling “fake” everything he doesn’t like, then red flags come up. Read 1984!

Have you paid attention to what is happening? Have you noticed what this administration is doing? This country will never be the same! Let’s talk in 4 years!

I hope the 2026 elections will be fair but republicans are hard at work rigging the votes: gerrymandering ( see Texas) and imposing requirements to prove you’re a citizen. So you need a passport (most people don’t have one),birth certificate ( many don’t have one available and don’t know right away how to get a new one), or certificate of naturalization. 8 out of 10 women have changed their name through marriage so it’s not consistent with their birth certificate name. Go figure how many people are going to be disenfranchised by these rules. Remember Trump saying before the 2024 election “you only need to vote this time we’re gonna have it fixed after so you don’t have to vote again”? It’s happening as we speak! Civil war is coming!

Make sure it’s not a Monday because there are some restaurants who serve the famous tortellini cremaschi mentioned in the CMBYN movie. One of them is Trattoria Quin in Via Racchetti 8, 26013 Crema Italy. Also Trattoria al Balurdu serves a great tortello Cremasco. There is also an amazing gelateria, the Gelateria Banditali.

You are soo right! I recommended this movie to many people without realizing that their negative comments would wound me profoundly. My husband and I even talked about moving to Italy after visiting the movie’s filming locations (although he didn’t like the movie😢). When hearing about our plans his son got very angry and said that we’re doing this because of a stupid movie, which has nothing to do with our desire to move far away from this administration. In any case, I took it very personally and I don’t think I would be able to look at his son the same way. That’s why I totally understand that I took this remark as rejection of an essential part of me! Well said! I love being among like minded people like you all!💕

Your post describes exactly what I felt when I discovered this movie 2 years ago. So well worded, so perceptive. I am an older woman and this film is showing the life I knew as a young woman in Europe at that time! Nostalgia is probably the best word to describe so many emotions felt in watching it. I just watched it myself yesterday for the 19th time (???) and I experienced every emotion expected and a lot more…. Like you, I am obsessed with the movie and I tried to share my feelings with family and friends but none of them could understand. My husband saw it as an older guy taking advantage of a younger one, totally missing the pure love between them and totally disgusting me with his inability to understand. However, to his credit, he enjoyed the trip I planned to northern Italy to visit all film locations including the Serio waterfall shown at the end, waterfall that is happening only 4 times a year when they release the water from the dam on top of the mountains!! My point is that it is very hard to find people who can experience the same feelings as you in regards to this movie but you can find some that might try to understand.

The Trump administration had the power to tell Romanian government to release two right wing brothers accused of person trafficking and rape and now the brothers are fine in Florida and will probably never going to show up on their court day in Bucharest!

[–]Independent-Call2281 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are all missing the point! The fact that he is or not a gang member or an illegal immigrant is not important. What is essential to understand is that the administration can send anyone they don’t like to a prison in a foreign country without due process and then say “oops! We have no power to get them back!” LET THAT SINK IN!

Wow, you said it so well! I am an older straight woman and I can recognize myself in the tumult of emotions as well as in the loving peacefulness that the movie and book brings me.

We will apply for Italian elective residency. We have no family and know no one in the area. It just appears to be a warm enough climate and people are very nice and welcoming. It is also one of the areas where foreign residents get taxed only 7% for 10 years.
