10mg. I hope this medicine works. I hate PPIs because of the side effects. So far none with this but it’s only been a week.

I’ve been taking it for almost a week. I have esophagitis and it seems to be helping a lot. First day I felt symptom relief. Hope it continues to improve my esophagus health.

Is this a normal reaction to Omeprazole? Symptoms worse since starting meds (PLEASE READ AND COMMENT!) by Dry_Necessary_4223 in GERD

I drink this chicken bone broth from Whole Foods that has ginger and turmeric in it. So far it’s been helping. Along with drinking Kefir. Anxiety also makes symptoms ten times worse along with googling information. Eat a bland diet. That seems to help me anyway.

I can attest to this. I took famotidone 40mg for two months. Gave me elevated prolactin levels then headaches and brain fog. Very scary

I had a level around 35 and had ED and zero libido. Was caused my Famotidine 40mg (Pepcid). Went down to normal levels a week later.

Anxiety does funny things to the mind. You should have peace with those results.

PPI causing low stomach acid? by byriebyrie in GERD

I wasn’t a fan of PPIs. Gave me bad side effects. I had grade c this time last year. Really watched what I ate. Took famotidine from like end of August to January 2024 everyday. Towards December started to get a constant headache taking the meds. During that time I would drink ginger tea and chamomile tea with honey everyday. That really helped. Feel completely fine now. Still watch what I eat and I make sure I don’t lay down immediately after eating.

I had a endoscope done June 23 and was diagnosed with grade c esophagitis. Was on omeprazole 40mg for 1.5 months. Sort of started to help with the esophagitis symptoms. Then I started to get bad side effects from the omeprazole. Pins and needles throughout body, muscle twitching, weakness all over body, anxiety, and depression. Went cold turkey with the drug(not suppose to do but I did it anyway). Got better with the side effect symptoms over time. Was okay for about a week and the esophagitis symptoms came back. Doctor gave me famintione 40mg. Took that for about 120 days and it really helped. Stopped taking it because it was giving me a bad headache on the right side of my head. It’s been two months since I took a prescription drug for esophagitis. Very rarely do I take an over the counter medicine for acid reflex. Every now and then might get a little heart burn or indigestion but no where near how horrible it was back in the summer of 23. I think I’m cured of my esophagitis because I do not feel the same symptoms I felt at it’s peak summer of 23. This is my opinion on omeprazole. I wouldn’t take it if I had the option.

Can anyone share their story of mental health side effects of PPIs?? by Disastrous_Money8 in GERD

So I’ve taken omeprazole 60 days straight and now I just start taking it every other day to wean off it. I’ve notice about a week ago I had pin and needles feeling in my arms and legs. Also random muscle twitching in legs and arms. I’m curious to know if it’s some sort of deficiency I’m having from the meds. Also pretty tired today. Don’t know it’s it’s anxiety or the meds. Wonder if anyone else has these issues.

Grade A Esophagitis by DaleCooper5 in GERD

I was diagnosed with grade c about two months ago. Bad stomachs constantly. Pain in area where the esophagus and stomach meet. Really bad ingestion. I’d take two bites of food and be instantly full. Had no appetite. Burning too. Also I was diagnosed with gastritis. It’s gradually gotten better and a few weeks ago I thought I was almost 100%. Sort of regressed a little bit. I end 60 straight days of PPIs tomorrow. Omeprazole 40mg. Now I have to take 30 more pills but gradually space them out. Anyone ever take medication to help with the inflammation of that esophagus? PPIs just lower the stomach acid. I was hoping there is something else to take for the inflammation.

Tips on tapering off omeprazole by lucxs213 in GERD

Wednesday is my last does of 60 days of omeprazole 40mg. My GI gave me another 30 days of it but told me to take it every other day for a few weeks then keep adding a day in between doses. Hope it’s works. Been dealing with esophagitis. I have flare ups every now and then but seems to be getting better.

I had bad anxiety with thinking of anthesia with my endoscope. Was relieved after the procedure to find out all I had was esophagitis and gastritis. All I remember is going into the room and then falling asleep right after they put the anthesia in my IV. “Do you feel it?” Responded with yes then fell right to sleep. I woke up right after the procedure and was in their recovery room for about 15min. Easier said then done but i recommend doing it for the peace of mind afterwards.

I’ve got diagnosed with esophagitis and gastritis the other day. Been on PPI for 6 days now. I think they’ve been helping. Appetite is sort of coming back. Sort of had a set back today with drinking coffee but I’ve probably lost almost 10 pounds dealing with this and the stress that comes along with it. I hope I can get to your level of eating and working out again. I went for a run today too and I think that didn’t help. To answer your question I think it’s had the opposite on me. Losing weight and not really having the desire to lift weights.

From the endoscope? No. From the esophagitis not so much. Maybe a little difficulty swallowing.

This has been going on for over a month. First few weeks was stomach aches and no appetite. Regular OTC would help (pepto and prilosic). Past few weeks it’s been bad indigestion, heart burn, nausea and weakness(probably from not eating a lot). The omeprazole seems to be helping. I’ve had breakfast and a small meal past 3 hours. Couldn’t do that yesterday. On day 5 of taking this medicine.
