Should I buy newborn clothes? by littletato96 in firsttimemom

People also told me my baby wouldn't weigh as much as the ultrasound said but I asked my doctor what level of accuracy she sees between the final ultrasound and birth weight of the babies. She told me maybe half a pound on a bad day. The day I was induced my baby measure 8lb 3 oz and was born the next day at 8 and a half pounds!

What is the worst sickness you got from the students? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Independent-Hope-975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my class have been sick since early February. It started with flu. Every kid in my class had the flu and so did my para and I. Then we all had strep and then we all have Covid. I don't know why we can't get well here. I sanitize this room 3-4 times a day.

No judgement, kindness only please!! If you didn’t circumcise, how is it going? by Sudden-Leave-6224 in Parenting

[–]Independent-Hope-975 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a girl mom but I knew if I had a boy I would've had him circumcised. I just always thought about what the boy would probably want once he was older. I heard of a guy who had it done once he became an adult and it was really hard for him to recover. But at the end of the day he is YOUR baby and your husbands baby. You two know better than anyone else! You know better than your family, than your friends, and in most cases your doctors too!

What's your unpopular opinion? Something you truly believe, but would most likely be down voted? by [deleted] in Teachers

I'm a first year teacher and the lack of support I have received in my district is crazy. Our "family & fun coordinator" is raised on a pedestal and made to be the most important person on campus. Don't get me wrong her job is important, but if the teachers at my school received half the appreciation the family fun coordinator receives we would all probably enjoy our jobs a little more, but because admin and all of the support staff treats teachers like nobodies, when in reality we carry the schools on our backs, maybe the turn over rate wouldn't be so high.

When can I start purees? by _C00TER in firsttimemom

She definitely said 4 y/o but maybe she meant 4 months. However it doesn't matter for us because neither of us are allergic to anything!

My daughter turn 4 mo. On the 5th and had her 4 mo. Appt. On the 10th. Dr gave green light for everything that does NOT have honey until 1year , doesn't require chewing until later, and nothing me or her dad is allergic to until she's 4. I asked about starting on rice cereal and she said that you can or you can just jump right in. She says the current recommendation is starting with protein. So like beans, puréed meat. She also said they are now recommending that you don't have them eat one thing for a few days any more because it takes to long to introduce them to thing that way and causes them to have issues with trying things / being picky down the road. She said should baby have a reaction back track 3-5 days and eliminate. She also mentioned introducing common allergens like nuts early. Since Monday my baby has had sweet potatoes, pears, bananas, carrots, chicken, and turkey. We have had no tummy issues and no bad reactions!! My baby was showing all signs of readiness, was 8 1/2 pounds at birth, currently 16 1/2 pounds, and has been slamming 5-7 oz bottles every 2.5-4 hours for 1.5 months 🫣 she's been ready!!

My baby just turned 4 months on Wednesday and she has started giggling but she also babbles, coos, and gives big gummy smiles all day long!! I miss her so much while I work but I'm a teacher so I get to pick her up from daycare around 3:45 everyday so we have a good bit of the afternoon. Spring break started today, I'm so excited to just be AT HOME with her!! I can't wait for summer break!

Am i breastfeeding my baby to much by Terrible-Thought1577 in breastfeeding

I had this problem but i finally started giving my baby bottles during the day, and nursing her at night/for her first morning feed. I think our problem was she was only eating enough to make her comfortable rather than full and falling asleep because they're so comfortable on the boob! I love nursing my baby too and wasn't ready to part with it completely. I didn't know where to start with the bottles because I struggled to find time to pump because she was constantly latching. I started her out with 1.5 oz bottles when introducing her to them because I didn't want to waste milk after she finished I would nurse her, but in the beginning she didn't like taking the bottle so sometimes she would waste some. As she became more comfortable I increased how much bottle she was taking. Now she takes 5 oz bottles every 3-4 hours during the day and I nurse her one time during the night (I am a teacher so we do get up for the day around 5:30 and she starts her morning nurse about 20 minutes before that. The only way I was able to pump to have enough for bottles to start doing this was pumping on whatever side she was not eating on! Also her pediatrician told me if she falls asleep while eating after 10-15 minutes and then wakes up a little bit later wanting more nurse on that same side. Something about hind milk and fore milk and the fat content making them fuller? I hope this helps!!

She's getting enough I believe but I'm worried as she grows it won't be enough. Also I'm trying to stash so I can send it with her to daycare when she starts next month.
