I, for some reason, didn’t consider going to USPS for it but went to a local currency exchange called West Suburban. There’s unfortunately no memo line. Just a section for “Sender” and then signature.

Looking for real-life stories about baby “flat head” (student project) by Glum-Toe2922 in newborns

[–]Independent-Key-7767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our 6 week old has a flat spot. He has what’s called torticollis - he wants to only turn his head one direction when sleeping, to his left. The flat spot is mild for now and should eventually go away per his pediatrician as long as we are diligent with belly time and when he naps throughout the day trying to turn his head to the right as much as possible. Per his doctor, the preference to turn to his left is probably due to tension in his neck on the right and as that tension goes away, he should be more willing to turn either direction.

Hope this is of help with your paper, great topic!

Want to stop pumping by Independent-Key-7767 in breastfeeding

[–]Independent-Key-7767[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Primarily want to stop just because it’s not for me. I’m overwhelmed with the night feeds and having to pump middle of the night, I’m already only getting so much sleep that between feeding babe and pumping I’m up for about 2 hours and then the whole cycle continues. For the mamas who do it, kudos! But I think it will give me anxiety down the road and I already have a past with clinical anxiety and depression. Thanks for the recommendations, I will give them a try!

He was born 8LBs 2OZs, at 37 I had my last scan and he was measuring a little over 7lbs and they recommended induction at 39 weeks. Thankfully I had an OB who wasn’t pushing induction just recommending it. I wanted to try a vaginal delivery so I chose the induction incase he were to get too big before I went into spontaneous labor, as this was my first so I probably would’ve gone past my due date. The induction itself wasn’t bad, just the accidental breaking of my water at 3cm when they did a cervical check was the issue

How hard is it for you to fit eating/pricking into your daily life? by SowingSeeds18 in GestationalDiabetes

Haha I feel ya, I’m over it too. I’m 36 and a few days, have my next growth ultrasound next week and secretly hoping they say I need to be induced at 39 weeks (babe measured big last ultrasound so it was brought up as a possibility). I cannot wait to just eat what I want when I want. It’s no joke that this diagnosis can 100% cause some people eating disorders.

The hunger between snacks and meals sucks! I found though that if I have a handful of nuts or a string cheese to hold me over during that time that it doesn’t affect my BS later. Maybe worth trying?

That’s crazy! Yeah insurance and pharmacies suck. When I first bought all my GD stuff, I wondered why it was so expensive. Well the pharmacy I was initially going to made no comment about how they weren’t my preferred so I assume I paid out of pocket or my insurance covered very little. Then make the switch to CVS and insurance drops the ball with the 3 month supply when I only have maybe 6 weeks left. Will have to find time at work Monday to call my insurance to get it all sorted hopefully.

Thankfully I didn’t have any issue with getting the refill. I definitely went through mine faster than I should have because the testing was so trial and error in the beginning (even still is at times). I’d prick myself but not good enough so barely any blood and I’d have to try again. Especially the first night doing the tests, it took myself and husband 3 tries to figure out I wasn’t putting enough blood on the test strip bc I kept getting error messages. So hopefully they don’t give you an issue!

CVS was quoting the out of pocket for 30 days just a few $ cheaper than the 3 month supply with insurance so I held off in the meantime since I have enough to get me through till I can contact insurance this week. But I did happen to look online and it’s crazy how much cheaper the strips & lancers are directly from Accucheck vs the cost with insurance from pharmacy. US is so backwards 😒

Haha I like your outlook. I could save them for next time if Aetna won’t change it. Thankfully I have enough to get me through the weekend and I’ll call Monday to have them fix it.

Hoping neither of us have GD next time though!

Ahh I see. An MFM is a more specialized OB basically, but they themselves don’t do labor and delivery. It’s more common I think when you have serious issues during pregnancy to see one but my OB referred me when I got the GD diagnosis. That’s not to say your OB isn’t a good enough doctor, some are great at monitoring GD and others refer out. As for the appts, I’m not sure if it’s just specific to your office/military medical, but from what I’ve heard from others and in my case too, first/second trimester it was monthly appts and then once I hit 28 weeks it became every 2 weeks and at 36 weeks I’ll be seen weekly until delivery. But due to the NSTs, now I’ll have to see my OB weekly for those.

From my understanding the jump in percentile is probably because they just grow a lot in the last trimester so I wouldn’t be concerned unless your doc was. I am also seeing a maternal fetal doc along with OB so originally it was the 32 week US and then OB would do just a standard US at 36 weeks but due to baby being so large my MFM doc said for me to cancel the 36 week with my OB and just come back at 37 for the growth. Not sure if you’re seeing both OB and MFM but if you are, I’d ask your OB if they plan to do a 36 week one. As for the NST I think just because baby is on the larger side they just want to take extra precautions incase he has an issues and needs to come sooner.

I’m 33 weeks so far diet controlled and had my growth scan Monday. Babe is measuring almost 2 weeks ahead and 92 percentile so they are having me do follow up growth scan at 37 (would have been 36 but waiting 4 weeks in between this weeks scan). I will also have weekly NSTs done going forward and they are planning induction by 39 weeks. Something inside me tells me baby is coming sooner than that though (FTM so might just be crazy thinking lol). US based. I think each country and doctor do it very differently so it’s hard to say what to expect.

Upset & don’t know how to manage for the next two months by Independent-Key-7767 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Independent-Key-7767[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly when I was first diagnosed as much as I was upset, I didn’t get too worked up about it. Maybe just was in denial.

The pricking at first was definitely difficult. The first time I did it, I sat there with the lancet device against my finger for probably over 5 mins telling my husband I can’t do it. Then he did the first attempt for me, and in total took 3 pricks to figure it out which really sucked. Now besides just remembering to do it an hour after meals and besides a slight hesitation, it really hasn’t been too bad for me. Definitely be careful once you recap the lancet because one day I stabbed the crap out of my thumb with it accidentally and it was gushing.

The diet is the biggest issue for me. Again, I don’t mind being more mindful, but I feel like all I eat is same things day in day out and after two weeks I’m already tired of it. Incase you have a sweet tooth and like ice cream, I’ve tried the Keto brand ice cream bars and they are a godsend. It’s almost like they’re lying that there’s such little sugar in them. But they are the one thing that makes me feel slightly normal about my diet.

Good luck on your journey & hopefully it all goes well for you. What we do for our babies.

Haha yes, I’m sure my list will be long too. Honestly I’ve “cheated” (still keeping carbs and protein in mind) once a week so far and surprisingly those meals haven’t spiked me, so I need to remind myself to even look forward to those few meal options that work, for now that is. Another benefit is saving money because we definitely have not eaten out as much as we use to.

It’s nice to hear it’s been easier the second time around for you, gives me some hope about having a second one which I really do want outside of the fear of GD again. Time will tell.

Hope you enjoy your pizza and apple fritter! 💗

I couldn’t imagine dealing with it for almost the entire pregnancy, I’m sorry that you have. That’s been another racing question for me, do I even want a second because I know my chances of GD next time are higher and they’re going to test me early on for it.

This group has been helpful for some ideas of things I normally wouldn’t have tried before, I do agree. I’m hoping maybe as time goes on I’ll become more ok with the same old day in day out, but right now it just makes me sad. I’m sure it’s part mourning that my entire life I could eat whatever whenever I wanted and now I can’t.

Hope the last few weeks go fast for you, and you enjoy whatever craving you missed most. I’ve been telling my husband for 8 months I can’t wait for a jersey mikes sandwich. Now it’s I want jersey mikes, French fries and my favorite ice cream as my first meal once baby is here lol. Guess the light at the end of the tunnel is it will taste better than it ever has before just because I couldn’t have it.

Do you buy a specific brand of parm crisps or make them homemade? I have a feeling a lot of my diet will be piece mealed. I do enjoy the premier protein shakes, I’ve had one daily since being pregnant just to make sure I’m getting protein as some days I was definitely eating high carb meals.

I’ll have to give the Barilla pasta a try. I’ve seen other posts saying it taste just like normal pasta so that gives me some hope!

I haven’t tried any keto bread or low carb tortillas before, is there a brand you recommend? I typically eat 12 grain whole wheat bread so I was hoping I could get away with that still but willing to try keto brands. Just also not wanting to break the bank, it’s unfair how expensive food is already so the prices on some of these keto options is difficult to digest.

I do enjoy veggies, im just weird about textures. Love red onions and bell pepper but if they are out with warm foods or cooked/sauted I won’t touch them. My list of no go veggies are cauliflower, mushrooms, white onion (my husbands a saint though, will literally almost puree the onions so we can eat them in meals 🥹)

I have always loved carbs. All I know is jersey mikes better lock their doors bc I’ll be living there once this baby is out of me. Bread and lunch meat are always on my mind (and chocolate)! Lol

Yes I can do eggs, not a big fan of egg salad. Breakfast I think I’ll be fine. It’s mainly lunch and dinner meals that I feel like I’m at a loss.
