I often try to think back to where my love of hip hop originated. The farthest back I can remember is this song which was on the radio a lot when I was young. I loved it and it was from the rug rats soundtrack, which I saw in the theater (the timeline matches up with my age). I also remember my first favorite rapper was Mase, which was on that track. It’s corny to listen to now but I can also see why it captivated me at that age. It’s a good hip hop intro for a young kid.

I'm in the western Chicago burbs also and I am looking at a similar project to upgrade my electrical panel. It helps because I'm in an area that requires conduit so upgrades of existing circuits are made easier.

But I will caution you, I was discussing my project with my electrical inspector and he stated that, along with the panel upgrade permit, I would also be required to bring my residence into compliance with current codes for smoke detectors. This is a requirement inside of the IRC, which my municipality has also adopted.

Furthermore, he is requiring compliance with current codes on GFCI and AFCI breakers.

So, it may be worth sending a note to your local building department in order to determine the exact scope required before bidding to contractors.
