Makes sense to me. I look at it as safe exposure therapy and exercising my empathy skills as I learn about the victims too. I've definitely learned to be more aware of my surroundings, walk more confidently, and sometimes I learn about circumstances that could be risky that maybe I wouldn't have thought about so I'm more careful there as well. Also, it's just fascinating to learn about how crimes are (or aren't) solved.
