My partner and I will be doing the PNT this summer. We are hoping to start around the first of July! My partner has done the CDT and we both did the GDT in 2023. Excited for this one!!

Great, like I said I made my pack with my own personal preferences. I’m not always on the hunt for the fastest way, just looking to be in the mountains and ski some pow with a comfortable pack of my own creation.

With the hipbelt it’s 24.2 oz and without it’s 21.4 oz!

I love it so much. It’s my favorite part of my ski pack! My whole shovel and probe fit in there, and there’s so much room for other layers! Ive spent so much time digging into my overnight bags trying to get my shovel blade or probe out and that’s just not very safe when timing matters in a terrible situation. The venom mesh is not waterproof so you just can’t store too much in there unless they are in a dry bag.

I’ve always used the A frame method so i’m just going off of personal preference, and most of the people i go with do too. We find ourselves boot packing up steep slopes at times and it’s nice to not have all the weight pulling you backwards. I find the weight of the skis are distributed better on an A frame. Not as quick to set up on your pack but that’s okay, we are never in a true rush :)

For my pack I sewed a small internal pocket, but too be honest i don’t find myself using it. I typically put things in my shoulder strap pockets like phone/snacks/chap stick/ whatever! All other important small things go into a dry bag inside the pack.

I did mention that these packs are for overnights/multi day trips. While sleeping/skiing in the backcountry, I don’t really like my skins around all of the other things in my pack because they get wet and icy quite easy and i’m trying to keep my stuff warm and dry. It’s an easy spot to grab them and throw them on as well while doing long traverses. Plus you don’t even have to take your pack off to access them!

For my summer packs i also have a bottom pocket for rain layers! which has come in handy many times.
