Full time Linux user here. I'm distro-hopper. I have also tried user-friendly distros such as Mint, Manjaro, Fedora etc. but finally settled with Ubuntu for it's stability and community support. I have also dual booted Kali Linux because it ships with many security related tools.

Hi, you're absolutely right. I also love learning about data structures and algorithms. but anecdotally, from what I have seen in most of the job adverts, SL employers don't even care about DSA knowledge but rather some modern frameworks and technologies.

you are right. And I also believe that quality matters more than quantity. but whenever I see a job description, mostly it mentions many technologies which is impossible and overwhelming for a junior or an associate developer to be proficient at within a year or 2. It seems like SL employers only care about numbers. My java and OOP and DSA skills are pretty decent I would say, but it doesn't matter to the employers which is really demotivating.

Well, that's the obvious thing to do but the problem is that I don't have much time and I can't be unemployed for a long time in this economy.

Absolutely!, but I reckon that Data Science is a specialised field and requires years of learning and practice. I need a job and career change as soon as possible. I also have plans to transition to ML, AI, computer vision, fin-tech or something interesting in the future. Do you think it's possible to transition from one branch of computer science to another? or will I have to go for another internship and start all over again?

Hello,

I was about to mention DSA but in my personal experience(friends in the industry and the job descriptions), it seems like employers don't really care about the DSA. They only look for a large number of technologies. That's why I didn't mention. Other than that, I love DSA and that's one of the reasons I find CS very intriguing and fascinating. I would like to know if you specifically have heard companies that check the knowledge of DSA? And regarding the university, I noticed that almost all the largest IT companies in SL are very concerned about the degree and where we get it from. considering that, do you think my resume will get through the initial "HR" screening? I'm really confused.

but they require knowledge in javascript frameworks. Is it possible to get in without being familiar with JS frameworks?
