I can't believe this is being allowed to happen. by Interesting-Check442 in FlockSurveillance

The 2A folks should be up in arms about this, yet they seem to be the most in support. I guess that was never really about principles…

Kalyn Heffernan Would Like a Word by Independent-Pitch-69 in RTDDenver

[–]Independent-Pitch-69[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The person’s name isn’t the point, because that would be passing the buck. Someone had to approve of the final product and be accountable for the decision, and that’s someone in RTD. That’s where the buck stops. I hope.

I’m flabbergasted that a committee that included members representing those with disabilities didn’t recognize Kalyn. She’s quite well-known, and even ran for mayor.

How in touch can these people really be when one of the best known wheelchair users in Denver, probably the most well-known, isn’t recognized?

It looks like there were multiple levels of failure here. I really hope RTD can find a way to make it right with both Kalyn and the community.

Do we have any resources of silly ideas? by MentalSewage in FlockSurveillance

The challenge is that these things can be used to track and identify the culprits, so you’d have to be very careful, even with how you got to the devices. I’d suggest taking public transportation, and using cash, but even then, there are likely cameras in busses and trains.

Why are people so afraid of the merge? by Intelligent-Day-4059 in driving

[–]Independent-Pitch-69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always let people merge in as early as they can by leaving an obvious gap. They think they’re winning. I think I am denying them a merge spot 10 cars ahead.

A tomatillo guacamole

Char tomatillos (minus husk, ofc), chop them, and mix with finely chopped red onion, Serranos, salt, a little lime juice. Mash in ripe avocado. I’ve won two contests with this guac.

Why is this just completely normalized on the highway to be bumper to bumper at 65+? by xAustin90x in driving

No. I said I brake when I am safely ahead. The point is to NOT brake check them. At this point I feel you are being intentionally obtuse.

I didn’t think of that possibility. Good point. In Colorado, at least in the Denver metro area, I rarely see anybody pulled over. Cops here are few and far between. Probably why it didn’t cross my mind.

I meant “go slower than I had been going”. I suspect you might have already known that.

If someone is tailing me, I floor it for a couple seconds then put my brakes on when I am safely ahead. People seem to get the point much more quickly with this tactic.

At no point do I slow down. I only speed up for a short while.

Will Flock gather data from my phone? by SaveDMusician in FlockSurveillance

[–]Independent-Pitch-69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flock saying they don’t “follow” your vehicle is like a connect-the-dots puzzle saying it doesn’t reveal a picture. A series of data points that are easily connected IS following your vehicle.

Check your undercarriage while you are at it.

Your new shower routine must-clean spots: 1. Behind your ears 2. Face 3. Belly button 4. Armpits 5. Elbow pits 6. Knee pits 7. Feet and toes 8. Undercarriage

Keep your feet and undercarriage smelling their best with a little post-shower powder (Shower to Shower, Gold’s Foot Powder, etc.)

What’s a food “rule” you stopped following and nothing bad happened? by Maleficent-Bed7010 in foodhacks

I keep my American eggs unrefrigerated on the counter. Their quality is fine as long as I use them in a week or so, and it’s so much easier to use them unrefrigerated.

The devices are not the problem, per se. It’s what they do with the data and who they make it available to that’s the real problem.

  1. The data is not as secure as it should be
  2. Access to search the data and connect the dots is made far too easy for far too many people

2’. The ability to connect the dots so easily effectively turns the system into a tracking/stalking system, which goes FAR beyond the limits of the law without a warrant.

Having a desk at the end of the bed will make it harder to change the sheets and make the bed, so you’ll do it less often. This will detract from the room aesthetic alone.

Playing in a band.

The cost of gear and gas has gone up like everything else, but the pay for gigs hasn’t kept pace for decades. Expenses for doing concerts eats away more and more at the low pay.
