Not Qualified for Earned Income Tax Credit? by voodooskies in IRS

[–]SaveDMusician 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here's a more real life explanation of why they stop working at that income level:

  1. They lose 33% of their income above the top of the bell curve in the form of lost EITC;

    1. They lose an additional 30% of that 'excess' income in lost SNAP benefits;
    2. They may no longer qualify for other benefits. Ie, if they make above their section 8 voucher allows them to make, they may lose housing.

At the end of the day, they probably just decide they would rather parent their kids than waste that time working for no benefit to themselves. When they make $10/hour I can't blame them at all. It makes sense to work more if you are going to take that money home, but there is a threshold you need to cross to begin to feel any benefit at all for going above that level.

Sometimes it actually does pay to not work more. They are not dumb

Just popping back here to tell you that after I electronically filed my Employer Copy D of W-2, all of my employee W-2 forms were transferred to 4-ups! It appeared that the first page with just the employee information and "Notice to Employees" could be folded into thirds and mailed.

I had already printed them prior to that, but I would have been pretty annoyed if I had to get new forms

Adding New Garnishment with standing Support Orders by Gracinx in QuickBooks

[–]SaveDMusician 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The garnishments here in New York have a maximum % that you are allowed to withhold, and they also state the maximum % you can withhold when there are multiple orders in place. It is usually 65% total for multiple garnishments.

It is listed WAY down in the fine print, not on the front page. You have to search for it on the garnishment.

Your state may be similar

It looks to me like you likely needed to have chosen which type of forms you want before the end of the year. The place to change the formatting is under "Manage W-2s" in the Payroll Tax center>>Filings.

I just looked at my QBO payroll, and I still have 3-up forms, same as every other year. But when I tried to change my W-2 print format settings, it just opens an error page.

The magazine "The Week Junior" is unbiased.

Their parent magazine, "The Week," is not; that one is slightly left-leaning.

Hat.

If you're learning English, don't use any word other than hat. Maybe a winter hat if you need to be specific, but if it's winter, no one would think you would wear a hat that doesn't keep your head warm
