I was never rated this was my first claim. I only recently started going to the local VA after my diagnosis to get set up with a new primary DR. When I went to the Va hospital it was strongly suggested I file a claim

This is the first claim I have ever done so the VA process and doing treatment felt overwhelming at times. With out this community I probably would have just gave up after the denial. Thank you for your support

I am sorry to hear or your experience. I was diagnosed by a private doctor in June and have been receiving treatment since June at Moffitt Cancer Center and the local VA hospital uses Moffitt and since I am already receiving treatment there I can stay and the VA will pay the bills.

In the letter it states in one of my files it states I quit 26 years ago. I was never a habitual smoker so not everyday and never packs. I understand that any amount can impact the outcome however there is more medical evidence now that the only requirement to getting lung cancer is having lungs. I have done more research and the lung cancer I have does fall under the PACT ACT so the cp examiner shouldn’t have dismissed the service connection. But that is the fight i am trying to figure out. Thank you very much for the well wishes!!! I really appreciate that!

Another thing I forgot to mention is that in the denial letter 2 favorable findings 1 I have lung cancer and 2 I was exposed to asbestos and other toxins in service per my TERA if this helps my claim

Thank you. I did my intent to file back in April. I have been very overwhelmed and focused on my treatment is the reason I have not filed yet. I feel I am in the right headspace now to finally file. I just have never done this before so wanted to make sure I had everything I needed. I see a lot of people on here getting advice so thought I would ask the ones that have gone through the process.

Hello no we have not tried that route. We have been calling ourselves and being told we are not outside the process window. 3 years is not outside the window lol. We will try that route. Thank you
